Long Obedience: Finding Peace in God’s Rhythm
On Daily Faith, our special guest is Pastor David Smith, Lead Pastor of Northstar Community Church in Loveland, OH. Today, Pastor David shares his heart and vision for their church community and how they impact the surrounding area for the Kingdom of God. Pastor David calls it ‘Long Obedience in the Same Direction.’ In the world we live in today, we want everything at our fingertips, easily accessible and on demand. No one likes to wait patiently or sit still for longer than 30 seconds. But in this fast-paced society, we get so distracted by the lights and falsities that we lose sight of the peace and wait for a good thing.
Pastor David explains the heart behind their holistic center of wellness, enabling you to step out of the chaos and into health, spiritually, physically, and mentally, through the support of their community members. The keys to achieving these goals within their church have been a step-by-step journey, a long obedience process with the Lord. They are reaching the lost and broken by meeting their needs and showing they care. The work of the Lord is about loving the marginalized; it’s a pacemaker for our hearts to get into God’s rhythm.

The Orphans Hands has reached countless souls through the love of Jesus and a willing heart, patiently trusting in God’s plan. In Moldova, families are stuck in the trenches of alcohol abuse, poverty, and lack of support. The world often seems to be in slow motion, but the reality is the day slips away one moment at a time. Without hope, these families send their children to live in an orphanage. In the orphanages, these children are told they will never be anything in life, and as they age out of the system, they become subject to the lies of human traffickers.
Yet, we have a village of homes in Moldova and a home in Odessa, Ukraine. This long obedience, remaining faithful while the world looks away, is an act of God’s hand reaching to save the lost, the same way He saved you. Within our homes, these once-orphaned kids learn to grow in His love and faith and share the same passion with their communities.
Our kids are brave missionaries on the frontlines of war, meeting the needs and tending to the hurting through our Constant Care ministry. Their heart is to see one person saved by the same Jesus that once saved them. We encourage you to step out and be a part of something bigger than yourself or your surroundings. Once you do, you will never be the same.
