Daily Faith with Philip Cameron: Special Guest Pastor Andrew Davis
About this episode
Youth pastor Andrew Davis of Countryside Christian Church in Clearwater, Florida joins Philip Cameron to deliver a passionate, practical conversation about reaching the next generation for Jesus Christ. Andrew serves alongside his father, the senior pastor, leading a youth ministry that has grown from 50 students to 300–600 every single Wednesday night — and saw 140 young people baptized in a single summer.
Andrew is direct about the spiritual battlefield facing today's teenagers: "The enemy is attacking their minds through social media, pornography, all these different things that are in front of them 24/7." He challenges churches to stop burying their heads in the sand and instead meet students where they are — addressing depression, identity, homosexuality, and the transgender movement with both truth and love. "The two biggest things this generation is hungry for is the truth and the supernatural," Andrew says, "and thankfully we can offer both of those things through the power of the Spirit of God."
The conversation is a rallying cry for youth leaders at every church size. Andrew reminds smaller ministries that "all you need is a mustard seed" — and that young people are not the leaders of tomorrow but the leaders of today. What's Discussed
Youth pastor Andrew Davis of Countryside Christian Church in Clearwater, Florida shares how his ministry grew from 50 students to 300–600 weekly attendees, with 140 baptisms in one summer. He identifies social media, pornography, depression, and gender ideology as the primary spiritual threats facing teenagers today, urging churches to address these issues honestly rather than avoid them. Andrew emphasizes that the next generation craves both truth and the supernatural — and that the Holy Spirit can deliver both. He calls youth leaders at every church size to invest spiritually and financially in young people, declaring that teenagers are not the leaders of tomorrow but the leaders of today. His closing challenge echoes Luke 10:2: the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.

Intro
Philip:This is the howdy-doody show today. Well, God, you're here today. My name is Philip Cameron. This is Daily Faith. Sometimes the devil is in the details.
Philip:We are glad to have you with us today anyway, despite all the issues we're having right this minute. We've got a great guest today. If you are interested in youth work, if you're a youth pastor, or if you love your youth pastor, if you love your pastor — I'm called a missionary, but if I were a pastor, I would invest most of my time and money in our young people, because if we lose our young people, there's no next generation in the church.
Philip:And there is horrendous pressure being put on them right now, way more than you can ever dream of. I've got granddaughters who are 15 and teenagers and they're just beginning. And the pressure — I know how much we've gotta counterbalance what goes on in school, the stuff they come back and tell us about. The school that you used to go to and the world as a young person you used to live in does not exist.
Philip:We're living in a world of guns and knives and live ammunition. This is no longer cowboys and Indians. These kids are living in a world of danger. And that confounded device that they hold in their hands — that is a portal to hell. And the world is spending billions of dollars to get your kids and your grandkids and the young folk in your church, billions beyond anything you could ever imagine.
Philip:They'll spend more money in a day than the entire church of Jesus will spend in a year investing in their lives. And whenever I see young folk and whenever I see pastors working towards reaching out to this new generation, my hat is off to them. And that is where our priority ought to be. Flannel graph stories doesn't cut it anymore. Unless you are investing and spending time and energy and money in your young folk, you are way off. You are way behind.
Philip:So we've got a very important guest today. Andrew Davis is with us. He's the youth pastor of a great church down in Clearwater, Florida. And he, along with his wife Anna, and they have teams — mission teams with these young folk. Missionary teams is one of the greatest ways to capture a young person's heart because it adds all the elements of excitement and mystery and they're going to a different country. And it's, you're looking and hearing different languages, and what it does is it excites their heart about something bigger than themselves.
Philip:So we really are excited to have Andrew with us today. And whoever you are today watching this, I hope — tell your pastor, if you love your young folk in your church, get in contact with your youth pastor right now. He may learn something. Listen, one piece of information, one little nugget of information may revolutionize your entire youth ministry. Information is power. And so we're just delighted to have you with us.
Philip:Turn your notifications on. If you can, share this with your friends. Share this with your church because this is going to be an important program today. We're also on YouTube — Daily Faith — youtube.com/dailyfaith. You can catch us on all the different platforms. And also our home base is dailyfaith.tv. Very simple, dailyfaith.tv.
Philip:And there's a great shop there. My sons years ago said to me, dad, we need merch. I had never heard the word merch in my life. I had no idea what it was. And every year we make new t-shirts and this helps fund our work in Moldova and Ukraine with the mission work. I'll be talking in a few minutes — you're gonna meet one of our young girls from Ukraine. We've had a home in Ukraine for seven years now. And our girls listen to the missiles and the bombs at nighttime. It's crazy. And to watch God work in these difficult circumstances — so we're just delighted to have you with us. I'm glad you're here. Welcome to Daily Faith.
Philip:Hey, welcome to Daily Faith. My name is Philip Cameron and I am so happy to have you with us today. We have got a great program for you today. My heart was broken many, many years ago. 35 years ago, I adopted a young boy from an orphanage in Romania. He was only three years of age. And I picked him up — literally spotlighted him. I walked into this filthy orphanage in Timișoara, Romania, and went up to salon number five, up the stairs on the left-hand side, and walked into this room, and a wee boy was standing amongst 30 other kids.
Philip:And the Holy Ghost lit this kid up like a spotlight was on him. And He says, that's your son. I had kids of my own. Chris and I didn't want any more kids. We were done, we were finished — until I saw this wee face. And I picked him up and I says, I don't know who you are, but I'm coming back. I'm not gonna rest until I adopt you. It took me a year to do it, and in the year that it took me to do it, I changed all the beds. They had no toilets. I put in toilets, put on a roof. And in that year, God broke my heart for kids that have no understanding, and helped them.
Philip:And that has evolved over the years. We've rebuilt lots of orphanages, put in hundreds of thousands of dollars of windows into one orphanage alone — the largest in Moldova, with 700 kids in it. And as our ministry evolved, one of the things that came to us over and over again was the horror of trafficking. These girls are put on the streets and a guy, or a woman — worst of all — will come up and offer them a fake job, get in the car, and they're gone. They're never seen again, used 30 to 50 times a day until they die.
Philip:And God's helped us and it's just amazing what God's done. We've had an amazing place called Vatra Village. It's a village of six houses that were built originally for rich people to have a place in the summer to go to, on that lake. You're looking at the largest lake in the whole of the country. They poisoned the lake with chlorine to kill algae, and it killed this building project. And it sat unfinished for nine years. And we bought the houses and they are finished, they're paid for, and they are full.
Philip:In fact, in a few days, 25 more young folk are coming to us. It's crazy. And these kids come to us after being told they're garbage, they're trash, they'll never be anything. And grace gets a hold of them and transforms their life and makes them into missionaries. It's insane what God is doing. And these kids are missionaries all through the summertime. They operate these camps and share the gospel with kids. And it is just marvelous. And I want you to meet one of our girls. Her name is Victoria. She's from our house in Ukraine, in Odessa, Ukraine. And I think you'll be blessed by her testimony. Watch this.
Victoria:My name is Vika and I am from Ukraine. When I was just four years old, my father abandoned us, leaving my mother to struggle and provide for our family on her own. Years went by and our situation only grew more desperate. We were poor, living in a small rundown apartment with little to no resources. It was a difficult time filled with uncertainty. But then a miracle happened. My stepfather came into our lives and he was everything my real father was not.
Victoria:For the first time in my life, I felt safe and secure, knowing that I had someone who would always be there for me. However, fate had other plans for my family. The war started. My stepfather and my brother went to defend our country in a hot zone. My heart was heavy with worry and fear as I watched them go, not knowing if I would ever see them again. Every day I wonder if they will be okay, if they will survive, if they will call or message me tomorrow. It's so scary and terrifying for me to even think about what could happen to them.
Victoria:The war has destroyed so much and left us with nothing but uncertainty. The world around me seems to blur into a haze of fear and anxiety. But then something happened that changed everything. I found safety and hope through the family of the Orphan's Hands. I heard about this organization from a girl who has been here for two years now. She told me about all the amazing things they do to help other girls and boys like me. At first I didn't believe it, but now I am grateful for all the support I have found here.
Victoria:This organization has provided me with a loving home, surrounded by nine other girls who share my pain and my struggles. We support each other and encourage each other to dream big and never give up. It's a place where I can study, grow, and build my future without the fear of what tomorrow may bring. The war may have taken much from us, but it has also given me a gift. It has taught me to cherish every moment and never take anything for granted. It has shown me that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope. Thank you.
Philip:And that is lovely Victoria. Every girl you saw in that video — caught by a trafficker — is worth $300,000 a year. Everyone. Ten girls, three million. So you imagine the impact that what we are having in their lives every day. And coming from a broken home to a home that was healed and then broken again by war — the uncertainty that these kids live in is just unbelievable.
Philip:They'll tell us — I'll get reports almost every day — there was an attack last night, a missile that landed, that we heard, that we were all in the middle of the building in the safest place in the building. And they live like that on a knife's edge every day. She doesn't know if her stepfather's alive or dead. He's at the front somewhere. Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian men and hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers have died. And it's not being told in the news. We're only getting a politicized story from there. It's a disaster of biblical proportion.
Philip:And those kids — in Moldova this next couple of weeks, 25 new kids are coming in and we need help. We need support. Everything you see at Vatra Village, the vans that we have that run constantly — these kids go to school in different parts of the cities. It costs us over $3,000 a month just for bus tickets to get them to where they're going for their education. Everything you've seen in that video we just passed — Vatra Village was made possible by someone like you giving a dollar a day.
Philip:Can you imagine if I were to take you there and show you all the houses and all these kids in Ukraine, in Moldova, the new houses we're building — if I were to say to you, we could do all of this for a dollar a day, you would say, that's crazy, that's a miracle. It is a miracle. And you could be a part of this miracle by saying, Philip, I'll join with you. I'll be a part of this thing. I'll give. I'll pray. We need your prayers first. Pray for us because these kids are living in a danger zone.
Philip:Can you imagine if the Russian soldiers were to find the house with 10 girls in it? We have a van sitting at that house in Odessa, ready at all times, fueled up to the max. Every day we check, make sure there's diesel in this van, because at a moment's notice we're gonna get these girls out of Ukraine into Moldova. That's the knife's edge they live in. And surely you and I together — if they're worth $300,000 a year to a trafficker, don't you think a dollar a day, their hearts and their lives and their minds and their spirits and their future is worth a dollar a day?
Philip:You can contact me right now. It's really simple. Just the Orphan's Hands, PO Box 25 — so simple — 25, Clinton, Tennessee, 37716. And you can say, Philip, I'll join with you. I'll give. If you can give a monthly gift, you can give a one-time gift — that'll be fabulous as well, because we always have capital expenses. We're buying new homes. We're always replacing these vans. The roads are terrible. And there are business folks that are watching that God's blessed for this kind of thing. This is what you've been looking for, for your heart to get involved with.
Philip:So please feel free to do that. You can also call our 800 number — 833 — and just type Daily Faith on your pad, on your phone, and a real live person will pick up. And also, of course, dailyfaith.tv is the most direct — there's a giving page there. Please let the Lord use you today to help us continue this work and expand it for the kingdom of God's sake.
Philip:I am so excited to have with me today Andrew Davis. He is the youth pastor — his dad is the senior pastor — and he is investing his life in these young folk. And they've got a video to show you the kind of work that this incredible church is doing with their kids. Watch this.
How do I know I'm about to get in? So many of you guys, you feel this pressure like, man, how am I gonna do this? How am I gonna live for God? How can I do what God has called me to do? The pressure is not on you. The pressure is on him. It's his Holy Spirit working through you. All you have to do is say yes.
I went out for prayer and it was one of the nurses at camp. I remember she said, you need to get over the loss. It is not your fault. And it was never your fault. And I got blamed for that after, so it was really hard. And I was like, how do you know that? That was like my sign that God was real. Like, it's just been so amazing. Like, I'm going on the DR trip and my whole life is just changing in front of my eyes and I just feel happy for like the first time in a long while. And it's just been really good.
God has brought me here this week to this camp. I have felt the love and appreciation of God, and not just from him but from the other people here at this camp who have felt it too. Like I said in the prayer meeting, you can feel the difference between being here at this church camp with people who actually love — like feeling what Jesus has to provide for you — compared to people who just go to church just to say that they go to church or that they're a Christian. You build like a big bond with all these people and you guys become close. And I've made a bunch of new friends and I've just had a lot of fun. I ended up getting baptized this week also. So my heart has just felt lifted and everything that I was overthinking about or feeling down about, it just doesn't feel like it's there anymore.
Before I found God, I was in a horrible mental state. I was just not getting out of bed. I was so sad. I was scared and I was frustrated because I didn't know what I could do with myself. There was this one day when I felt this feeling — I was overcome with emotions. I fell to my knees and I just started praying. I was talking to God for that first time and it was amazing to me. I started going to youth group a lot more. I would try to go every single week if I could, and I would just feel so good when I was there.
The worship just made me so happy. It was absolutely amazing. With everything that was going on, all I could see was all the people there with all the smiles and the laughter and the jumping and they were all just praising God. And it was absolutely amazing. And now I'm getting baptized tomorrow and I'm so excited because I'm finally gonna give my life to God. And I'm just so overcome with so many emotions.
Philip:Wow, that is so powerful. The kids we deal with are in a war zone with Russian soldiers. The kids you just watched are in a war zone just as much, by the powers of hell that are angling to destroy their lives. Let me tell you something — America is one generation away from being utterly destroyed. We're not too big to fail. We think that America is just eternal. And let me tell you, I come from Great Britain. When I was a boy in school, all the maps in our school — the countries that used to be part of the British Empire were in pink: Africa, Canada, Australia, India. The sun never set on the British Empire. And today, I read this statistic the other day — Britain has 1% of the land it used to have. 1%. It has collapsed.
Philip:And America without Jesus, and our young people without Jesus, has no future. And I'm excited to have with me Andrew Davis. He is one of the men that God is using for the next-gen kids, the next generation of young folk, that I believe is gonna give us answers to capture — or recapture — their hearts for the kingdom. Andrew, I'm so delighted to have you with us, man. That's a mind-blowing video. 140 kids got baptized.
Andrew Davis Introduced and Ministry Overview
Andrew Davis:Yep. Yep. Super excited to be here. Thank you, Philip. Thank you, faith family. I'm super excited to be here. And it's been amazing to see what God not just did over the summer, but what God is continuing to do every single week through the next generation. It's mind-blowing.
Philip:I'm amazed. One of the things I hear — kids are living in and surviving literally between bombs and physical abuse. Our kids are suffering from an abundance and it's almost as poisoning as the kids in Ukraine and Moldova are facing. It's still destroying their souls.
Andrew Davis:Oh, absolutely. I mean, the enemy is attacking their minds through so many different things. I mean, we talked about earlier with this right here — this is a portal straight to the enemy through social media, pornography, all these different things that are in front of them 24/7. So we're battling something that they have in their back pocket every single day.
Social Media as a Spiritual Battlefield
Philip:And they're addicted to it. Oh my goodness. Sometimes in messages we'll tell them, hey, pull out your phone — how much screen time do you have on your phone? And some of them it's like 14, 15, 16 hours a day. And it's like, I hope the Bible app is a little bit a part of that.
Andrew Davis:I wish. It's a difficult thing.
Philip:It's incredible. How can young folk — how can a church — there are folk watching and they don't have as big a church as you guys have and they don't have the resources you guys have. How does a pastor and a youth minister begin to work amongst their kids to stop this deluge of filth and garbage that's being poured into them?
Meeting Students Where They Are
Andrew Davis:I think it's important to meet these students where they are, to know that what they're facing is extremely, extremely real. They are facing depression. They're facing larger temptations than we've ever faced when I was a kid. So it's so important that we're honest with them. The two biggest things that this generation is hungry for is the truth and the supernatural. And thankfully we can offer both of those things through the power of the Spirit of God.
Andrew Davis:So it's important to meet them where they are. They are going through incredible challenges. So with every single thing that we talk about, we don't shy away from homosexuality and the transgender movement. We're gonna talk about it. We're gonna talk about it in love, meet them where they are. And that is when the Spirit of God has the power to move and transform their life.
Addressing Homosexuality and Gender with Truth and Love
Philip:And the church tends — we are like ostriches. We tend to put our head in the sand and deny everything we see. And you know, your lying eyes can't tell you what's going on. And these kids are living every day in horrendous reality — graphic, raw. Instead of discussing things, you can just flick on your phone and say, that's what I'm talking about. And we've got to have a real Jesus to counter this onslaught that they're having continually poured into their minds.
Andrew Davis:Absolutely. I mean, we tell our leaders — every single Wednesday night, we're not just watching kids. This isn't childcare. We're going to the war zone. There is a very real realm that is out there. It's called the unseen realm. It's probably more real than the one we're in. So it's important that we're prepared, that we're ready to have ministry, that we're ready to pray over kids, that we're ready to go to war for God.
Youth Ministry as Spiritual Warfare
Philip:Absolutely. Meet them where they are. Absolutely. And as I'm saying, the church — I read a statistic yesterday that blew my mind. Half of the church does not vote. Wow. Half of the church doesn't vote. And we complain about the mess America's in. We deserve what's coming to us if we are not prepared. And we've got into this silly thing — it's just, pray about it and God will take care of it. We are the salt. We are the light. We've gotta get ourselves involved in the affairs of this country and stand up. And the young folk are suffering from the apathy of the church not getting involved in their lives.
Andrew Davis:A hundred percent. It's important. So many times in church we like to turn our back because we're afraid of what's over there. And what is over there is demonic and evil. And we need to be aware. We need to pour into the next generation of people that are coming up, because they're not the leaders of tomorrow — they're the leaders of today. We believe that God is going to use the next generation to bring revival to America. But if we just turn our back on it and turn a blind eye and say, well, we're just gonna pray — no, no. We need to invest. We need to invest spiritually. We need to invest financially. And we need to invest into this next generation.
Andrew Davis:Because whatever you invest in is what's important to you. And we believe that there will be a harvest, in Jesus' name.
Philip:Hallelujah. Hallelujah. I know this — if you're watching me just now and you are a parent, or if you just go to a church and you love the young folk in your church, support and undergird the ministry that's reaching our youth. Give when they go on a mission trip. Get involved. Help them get there. If they go to camp — my granddaughters went to a camp just recently. Kara, she's 12 years of age, she came back and she'd been praying for people. And she says, dad, they were just being touched by God and they were talking in tongues. And she came back all excited about what she had been praying. She was laying hands on people. So they get an experience at a camp like you've just shown us on that video — that's an amazing thing.
Philip:And there are young folk that are pastors of young folk right now from a smaller church, and they're thinking, well, it's easy for him. He's got a great big church, hundreds of young folk, and they can go and they can do this. It's the granular level, it's the relationship that matters. It's the connecting with their hearts, because that connection most times young folk don't have.
Andrew Davis:A hundred percent. And just because a youth ministry is small, that doesn't mean that God doesn't want it to grow either. When we started in the youth ministry, we had 50 kids our very first week, and now we're running 300 to 600 every single Wednesday night.
Philip:That's incredible.
Andrew Davis:So I think it's important for leaders in youth ministry and leaders in the church — all you need is a mustard seed. And when you have faith, you are taking steps. You aren't just stagnant. It's like, no, no, no — we're gonna do new things. Dream big dreams. And allow the Spirit of God to meet us where we are in our faith.
Growing a Small Youth Ministry with Faith
Philip:Well, that's the truth. My kids were affected. My older kids — Andrew and Philip and Melody — are my older kids. We had a youth pastor in our church in Montgomery, Alabama called Derek Williams. And he didn't have all — in fact, Andrew was just talking just now, as your video is showing, and he said to me, he says, dad, what could Derek have done if he had this kind of resources? This guy ran after my kids, was strict on them. One time they came home and didn't tell him they left the church service. He was in my kitchen within 20 minutes, tearing a strip off of my kids. And I says, Derek, go ahead. Do what you wanna do. Because he loved them passionately.
Philip:My kids are now in their forties and they still look to Derek Williams as their pastor and they respect him more than anyone else in their lives, because of the care — without all the gizmos, without all the stuff that we now have available for us. Because loving the kids is the one thing that you can't substitute for — loving the kids.
Andrew Davis:Amen. And that's one of the things we preach to our ministers and to our leaders — they're not always gonna remember the message you preached. They're not always gonna remember what you said, but they'll always remember how you made them feel. And we want to make people not just feel good and feel happy, but we want them to feel the presence of God, because that is where transformation takes place.
Philip:I can't tell you, Andrew, how blessed you have made me today, because I can see in you an answer for the world we're living in today. And if you are watching just now, Andrew is the pastor of Countryside Christian Church in Clearwater, Florida. And it's really simple — the address is www.countrysidecc — and I'm sure there are resources to get in contact with him. And it's amazing how you can learn something from guys like this. If you're watching just now and you're a youth pastor and you're saying, man, I've got 20 kids — get connected to a larger group, hook into them, and their resources can flow over into your life. And if you're anywhere near this church in Clearwater, Florida — one of my favorite parts of the world — I'm so jealous of you. I can't believe it that you live in Clearwater, Florida. It's just a disgrace.
Loving Students Over Programs and Resources
Philip:Listen, thank you for being with me today, Andrew. Please come back and anything else you want to talk about in the future, I'd be happy to have you on Daily Faith.
Andrew Davis:I appreciate y'all so much. Thank you so much, Philip. Thank you for having me. I want to encourage the watchers, the viewers that are watching right now — the same problem that Jesus had in his day is the same problem we have today. The workers are few, but the harvest is plentiful. Let's be the workers of the gospel — children, middle schoolers, high schoolers, adults — because the harvest is plentiful.
Young People as Leaders of Today Not Tomorrow
Philip:I couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you, Andrew, for being with us.
Andrew Davis:Thank you. God bless.
For over 25 years, the Cameron family has been changing the lives of orphans in Romania and Moldova — from providing running water, flushing toilets, and clean wells, to coal for heat, new windows, as well as food and clothing. They champion the physical needs of the orphans in these broken and desolate countries. Many of Moldova's orphans are saved from the horrors of trafficking through homes founded by the Camerons. And in the process, orphans become daughters and sons. They come to know their heavenly Father and are forever changed by the love of Jesus.
God helped the Camerons lift these amazing young men and women out of darkness. Now no longer orphans, they return and invade that very same darkness with the light of Jesus Christ. The Orphan's Hands equips these daughters and sons to become missionaries. Your monthly gift of $31 will allow us to rescue and take in more girls and boys, saving them from the hell of human trafficking. Your monthly partnership will allow us to care for those in the Orphan's Hands homes in Moldova and Ukraine. If you want to join Philip and Chrissy in taking care of these precious young people, please contact us today by calling 833-Daily-Faith. You can also give by going online to www.dailyfaith.tv, or by writing to Post Office Box 25, Clinton, Tennessee, 37716. So many lives depend on what we do. Thank you for loving the lost.
Common questions
What does Andrew Davis say are the two biggest things today's young people are hungry for?
According to Andrew, this generation is hungry for truth and the supernatural — and he believes the church can offer both through the power of the Holy Spirit. That's why he says it's so important to meet students where they are and not shy away from hard topics like homosexuality or the transgender movement, addressing them honestly and in love.
How did Andrew Davis's youth ministry grow so fast?
Andrew says they started with 50 kids their very first week and now run 300 to 600 every single Wednesday night. He credits faith and forward movement — refusing to stay stagnant, dreaming big, and allowing the Spirit of God to meet them where they are.
How does Andrew Davis handle the pressure of smartphones and social media on teenagers?
Andrew describes the smartphone as 'a portal straight to the enemy' — giving kids access to social media, pornography, and other harmful content 24/7. He says youth leaders have to treat Wednesday night ministry like going to a war zone, not just babysitting, and be spiritually prepared to pray over kids and fight for them.
What advice does Andrew give to youth pastors at smaller churches who feel they don't have enough resources?
Andrew says a small youth ministry doesn't mean God doesn't want it to grow. He reminds smaller-church leaders that all they need is a mustard seed of faith — the key is to keep taking steps, try new things, and dream big rather than staying stagnant.
What does Andrew say kids will actually remember from youth ministry?
Andrew says kids won't always remember the message you preached or what you said, but they'll always remember how you made them feel. His goal isn't just to make them feel good, but to make them feel the presence of God — because that's where real transformation happens.
