Daily Faith with Philip Cameron: Special Guest Pastor Chris Fletcher

About this episode

Pastor Chris Fletcher of Manna Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina joins Philip Cameron for a bold, faith-fueled conversation about the role of the Church in turbulent times. Drawing from Jesus's upper-room teaching in John 13–17, Chris unpacks why the Church — not Washington, D.C. — is Satan's ultimate target, and why that truth should ignite courage rather than fear. "The enemy has lies and intimidation — that's all he has," Chris declares, pointing to the finished work of the cross as the bedrock of Christian confidence. Chris shares the remarkable vision behind Manna Church's strategy to plant congregations near every U.S. military installation in the world, following service members as they deploy across the country and globe. Already present in 21 states and at Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg), Manna Church recently launched a campus in Killeen, Texas, near Fort Cavazos. The conversation builds to a stirring call for believers to walk in the fullness of Galatians 5 — in freedom, purity, and the power of the Holy Spirit — and to be genuinely infectious salt and light to a world held captive by fear. If you're ready to trade anxiety for kingdom-minded action, this episode is for you. Learn more at www.mannachurch.com.

Quotes worth sharing

The enemy has lies and intimidation, and what he always does, he overplays his hand every time. He wants us to believe that there's a battle with the outcome in question. No, there's a battle, but the war's already done. The fire's not out, but the war's already done. Jesus has triumphed.

Chris Fletcher

We live as if what we can see with our eyes is always a dictator of what it will be. It's real. So at night, when the sun goes down, it's almost as if — if we live Jesus' philosophy out — we should act like, oh my God, where'd the sun go? We're gonna live in darkness forever. No, we know the sun's gonna rise. It has to rise. Because the thing is, if God's on the throne, if he's alive, if the word is true, I don't know why we're freaking out.

Chris Fletcher

I will spend the rest of my life reminding the enemy you have lost. I'm gonna rub your nose in the defeat, and I will storm hell with a water pistol if I'm the only one.

What's Discussed

Pastor Chris Fletcher of Manna Church (Fayetteville, NC) joins Philip Cameron to address the Church's calling in an era of political and social upheaval. Anchoring his teaching in John 13–17 — Jesus's upper-room discourse — Chris argues that the Church, not any political institution, is the enemy's primary target. He draws a parallel between the fearful disciples before Pentecost and today's Church, urging believers to reject intimidation and walk in the Galatians 5 fruit of the Spirit. Chris also outlines Manna Church's vision to plant campuses near every U.S. military installation worldwide, currently active in 21 states including Fort Liberty, NC and Fort Cavazos, TX.

Intro

Philip:Hey, welcome to Daily Faith today. My name is Philip Cameron, and I am absolutely delighted to have with me — I am so excited to have a friend and a former guest of Daily Faith. Chris Fletcher is with us. And I really believe — we were just chatting before the program started, and I felt a real witness in what the Lord has been dealing with him. The reason why we love getting pastors in is someone who's a speaker can kind of skip along the top of the church and go to churches on Sundays, but pastors are dealing with real life situations. And I love when a pastor shares with me what he's sharing with his church. And I believe that what Chris has got to share with us today — he pastors a tremendous church in Fayetteville, North Carolina called Manna Church.
Philip:There were dozens of campuses apart from the main church, and God is using him to do great things. So if you love your pastor, get in contact with him, because I believe that something can be shared today. One piece of revelation, one moment of inspiration from the Holy Ghost is worth a goldmine to your pastor. One thought — years ago I was praying one night and the Lord spoke to me about household salvation, how our family, every man in our family for 200 years, were alcoholics, were lost, every man was a drunk. I'm the first generation — I'm nearly 17 — I've never tasted alcohol in my life. God came into our family and smashed that curse, and set this — two young preachers came to our town and in six weeks they had 96 converts, and 67 of them were Camerons. God broke into our family.
Philip:And one day I had the revelation and the thought of household salvation. I wrote a book about it. I told our story and I wrote a book about it called Full House. And that book has sold over 300,000 copies. One idea, one concept. So you investing in your pastor and saying, hey, watch Daily Faith — we bring here men and women of God that have had experiences and encounters with God. And one thought into their spirit might transform their entire ministry, may transform the entire destiny of the church. And you are the contact person.
Philip:So if you can hit the share button and the like button, and the bell can remind you of when Daily Faith comes on. You can also see us — we are on YouTube at YouTube slash dailyfaith.com. Or if you also want to go to dailyfaith.tv, that's our home base. And all the videos and stuff that you see, you can go and watch them there. We have got a great day today. We've got some incredible stuff I wanna talk to you about in the news that just happened in the last few minutes that is blowing my mind. So stay tuned right where you are. I'm delighted you're here with us today. Welcome to Daily Faith.
Philip:Hey, welcome to Daily Faith today. My name is Philip Cameron and I am delighted you joined with me today. My guest is a real man of God. Now, I like him for two reasons. First and foremost, he's a great man of God. But secondly, unlike most of the American people I meet in this country — I'm Scottish, for those that don't know — he understands that football is not what the Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys play. That is not football. In the beginning there was a round ball and God played this game called football, and that's the game that Manchester United plays and Chelsea play sometimes and Real Madrid play. And so we are all in our family, because we're from Europe, we are fans of football, and Chris Fletcher, he knows about football.
Philip:And so we can always get online and yap and chat about it. And talking, being on Daily Faith is almost an afterthought for us, because we've gotta sort out all the football world problems. And Manchester United, which is my team, my support — I just don't, I think they're past redemption at the moment. It's gonna take a miracle to save them this season. But I'm delighted to have you with us. So we're gonna be talking to Chris. He's got some tremendous insight as to what part the church has to play in these days.
Philip:We are living in crazy times. Just before I came on here just now, they announced in the news that in Hezbollah — you know, the terrorist group Hezbollah that's in Lebanon — hundreds of their pagers, that's how they get in contact with each other, just a few minutes ago, hundreds of their pagers exploded all at one time. And hundreds of these terrorists have been seriously injured by a pager. How do you get hundreds of pagers to hundreds of terrorists all at one time and blow them all up at one time? That happened literally as I was leaving my room to come here. I saw that come up as a news flash on TV. So that's gonna be an interesting day for us.
Philip:And every action has a reaction. So we are living in dangerous times, my friend. We are living in the last days, and the church is mostly silent in this election coming up, let me tell you. So let me tell you where I stand. This is not about Donald Trump or Kamala Harris — that's nothing to do with it. I will vote and I will vote on what I believe are biblical principles. And the first thing that motivates me is a baby in a mother's womb. We were fearfully and wonderfully made by the hands of God. And anyone that thinks they have the right to go and destroy another life will never get my vote.
Philip:No matter what you do, if you think you can take a baby out of the mother's womb at birth or right before birth and kill that baby for convenience, then my vote doesn't go there. So it's not about people, it's about standards. And the church — I read the other day, I think it's about a third of the church never votes. And that's why we are in the mess we're in right now. We've gotta fight against spiritual principalities and powers, yes, but we've also got to have a civic duty. And the government shall be on his shoulders, and we need to put the government on the shoulders of Jesus by our vote. So please do so.
Philip:For those that know us, you'll know that we are involved in mission work. And every year towards autumn, a happy and sad day happens all at one time. Kids have been with us for years. One of our girls last year was with us for six years. She wanted to be a doctor, so we put her through medical school. Her mom was bedridden sick. So in order to allow Natalia to go to university and become a doctor, we supported her mom and we fed her mom for six years. And last year she left us and is now a doctor doing tremendously well. So along with the pain of losing the kids that we've made our own over years, God kind of moves the whole thing around. And we just had 25 new girls and boys come to Vara Village.
Philip:Now, please understand — in Moldova in the past and present, these young girls are at tremendous risk from traffickers. They offer them false jobs, they get in a car, and they end up in Italy or Germany or God knows where, and they traffic them and they sell them 30 to 50 times a day. And we just don't think that's right. So we have an amazing place called Vara Village. This is a village of homes right on the largest lake in Moldova. It was built originally for rich people to have a summer vacation house. And that lake that you see, they poisoned it with algae, and that shut down this building project, and it sat for nine years unused. And the Lord gave us the challenge and the faith to go and believe God for them.
Philip:And we bought them and we fixed them up. They were lying derelict, and we've completely done up these gorgeous houses originally meant for rich folk to sit in. And now young girls and young boys come there and find Jesus, and they become witnesses and they evangelize. All through the summertime they've been having youth camps. Each house adopts a village and gets to know every widow, every poor family. And if there's an evangelical church in the village, they bring the folks to the church. And it is just a miraculous thing.
Philip:So what's happened is our girls that have gone through college and are now standing on their feet with a wee bit of help from us — they've gone, they still come and see us of course, but then their beds are for brand new girls. And the other day, in one of our houses called Elevate House, because it was sponsored by a church in Frisco, Texas — great folks — our new girls came to the house. Watch this video.
They have found the place for their weary hearts to rest. The abandonment and abuse, the poverty and loneliness of yesterday gives way to hope and peace. Their world is held in a small bag. The welcome top of clothes are more than they have ever seen, but most of all, it's home. Elevate Life Home — begins again. The miracle of restoration. The tattered threads can be repaired by the love of our house parents. As these precious girls are pointed towards the cross, you, by giving, have made this miracle happen again. It opens the heart of God to repay those who have given to the poor. Thank you for loving generously.
Philip:Wow. I love to watch those videos to see miracles take place. Every girl you just saw is worth $300,000 a year to a trafficker. Every girl you saw — about 25 feet away in that direction, my wife Chrissy has got a few ladies, five or six women from our church, and they come down every Wednesday to be with us. And they work and they're creating a new container, a whole container of clothes and supplies for people — of course the kids in our homes, both in Moldova. And we also have a house in Ukraine that I'll tell you about. But we create the stuff, the blankets and the things, the clothes that our kids give away in these villages.
Philip:And those Rubbermaid tubs that you see on our welcome boxes — the girl will come to us with a wee bag and they get this tub and they have a party. And the kids try on all the clothes. It's like a fashion show. They're up and downstairs to the rooms getting changed. And every year the miracle begins again. Everything you're watching — these houses, the vehicles that transport them, their schooling, their bus tickets — just the bus tickets to get to school is $3,000 a month just to get them to school and back every day. And everything you've watched in that video has been created by someone just like you.
Philip:Giving $1 a day — $1 a day won't change your life, but it sure has changed those girls' lives and those young men's lives. And we are just so excited. In fact, Andrew's going over and he's taking with him a card. One of our girls that we rescued — oh, dear gracious, 10, 15 years ago — is getting married on the 6th of October. Her name is Ana. And we just can't wait. She's marrying this lovely young man and she helps with all the videos. The video you just saw, Ana produced for us. And she lives there and she goes and tells the story of Orphan's Hands. And she's getting married, and I can't believe that Ana's getting married already. She was 16 when I first met her, came to her home.
Philip:So angry at the world, and God has totally redeemed her and restored her, and she's a brilliant girl. Can you help us? Can you make this dream continue? We are about to go — in fact, my son leaves this afternoon to go to Moldova to look at two houses and a farm and a piece of land that we can use to get younger kids. At the moment we take the kids when they come out of the orphanages at 16. This is for little kids. And your giving right now — a dollar a day can help this happen. Daily Faith, PO Box 25, Clinton, Tennessee 37716. The quickest way is dailyfaith.tv. It's so simple — dailyfaith.tv. Or you can go to 833-Daily-Faith. Please pray about helping us keep this miracle going and expanding in the name of Jesus.
Philip:Thank you so much for your care. You are being God's hand extended, my friend. Today Chris Fletcher — he's not a guest anymore, he is part of our family, and he's a great man of God. He pastors Manna Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina. And I love his spirit. I love his vision and his purpose. And I believe that we need pastors like this in the days we're living in. Chris, thank you so much for taking — I know you're a busy guy, but I sure appreciate you taking time to be with us on Daily Faith today.

Manna Church Military Installation Strategy

Chris Fletcher:Always time for you, Pastor Philip. Thanks for having me.
Philip:Oh, it's great. Tell us what's happening at Manna Church.
Chris Fletcher:Manna Church is doing well by the grace of God. We're in a number of locations around what we call the military highway. So we just planted a church pastored by the best man in my wedding, my brother Jonathan, in Killeen, Texas next to Fort Cavazos. That's doing really well. We launched that a couple months ago. Just been an incredible time, an incredible ride. God is moving.
Philip:What's exciting about your church is, because Fayetteville is such a military town, what you're doing is you're following these guys as they go across the country and you're starting churches beside a military base. Is that the vision that you have?
Chris Fletcher:That's correct, yes sir. In 2014 I transitioned as lead pastor here with my dad in 2021. But in 2014 I was serving as his executive pastor. And God really planted the vision in his heart to plant an expression of Manna Church near every US military installation in the world. We're the largest US military installation here in Fort Liberty, formerly Fort Bragg. And so we're trying to create an easy and seamless way for God to move in the hearts of our military. I think there's so much in the Bible about how God has brought revival as a result of — even Roman conquest — so much of his plan has always involved the military. And we believe that God's called us to serve men and women of our armed forces by planting next to military installations.
Philip:I'm interested — one of the girls that we rescued, one of our original girls, her name is Irina, and she married a lovely young man and he is stationed right now in Germany. And one of the concerns we had is that they find a church. So suddenly it became an abstract thing that you're talking about. Boy, it would be great if we could say, hey, we know exactly where to go — there's a Manna Church. And so I think this is a great need right now. I watch all the time — Tunnel to Towers and all these great wounded warriors organizations that are helping our vets when they come home and they're injured. Wouldn't it be something if we could start up a faith-based thing that everywhere our boys go around the world and our women go around the world, they can find a church of like anointing and like spirit? That's a tremendous concept.
Chris Fletcher:We believe the greatest mission-sending agency right now is the US government. They're paying the hands and feet of Jesus — citizens of the kingdom of heaven, agents of change — they're planting them all over the place. By the way, we are in Baumholder, Germany. So if they're in Baumholder by chance, we are there. Check that out.
Philip:That is fabulous. I know that we're living in — and I know you'll agree with me, Chris — we are living in ridiculous days right now. I mean, the former president, another assassination attempt on him. I hear them always talk about two, but there's actually three, because there's a guy that came from Pakistan that was going to kill one of our political leaders. And you know as well as I know, the only political leader that they've tried to shoot is Trump. So we've had three attempts or three people going to harm this man. And the turmoil that that is representative of, I believe, is the turmoil that is boiling in this country.

John 13–17 and the Upper Room Parallel

Chris Fletcher:I do believe there's turmoil boiling in the country. At the same time, I do feel that history is cyclical. So as I've been considering world history, even church history, that's really taken us as a church back to John 13 through 17, ending with Jesus washing the disciples' feet in the upper room. It's John's telling of the Last Supper. And when you examine the social and the political — I mean, make no mistake about this — Jesus' followers thought he was coming to sit on a spiritual and political throne. When he comes in on Palm Sunday, absolutely everyone's freaking out because they're like, this is it, he's gonna do it. And then when he doesn't, you imagine the disappointment in the disciples. But then he launches into this long teaching in John where he starts talking about the kingdom and the Holy Spirit and this thing that he's gonna establish. And then all of a sudden, how do guys hiding in a room all of a sudden become world beaters by Acts chapter two? What happens?
Chris Fletcher:Something has happened. So I believe that we are on the cusp of a move of God. I believe if the church will listen to Jesus' teaching as he taught it in John — it will listen to that, it will behave — the way he phrases it, he doesn't say it exactly this way, I'm paraphrasing, but basically he communicates: you're in the world but you're not of the world. You are my agents — citizens of the kingdom of heaven — here on the planet to affect change. If the church will step into the place that Jesus has designed her to step into, I believe that we'll see a move of God.

Church as Satan's Primary Target

Philip:Absolutely. And the fact that we can be the salt and light — I believe that the greatest influence — let me say this to you. I believe that the church is Satan's ultimate target. I don't think it's Washington DC. I think it is the body of Christ. If he can stop the church, if he can silence the church, if he can get the church busy doing stuff, if he can get the church to be fighting against each other — the target of hell is not the presidency or the Congress. The thing that the devil fears the most is an alive church. And if we understand that, and the church could stir itself, I believe we could see a mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our generation.
Chris Fletcher:Because here's what the enemy has — I'm gonna give a secret away. He's been defeated. When Jesus hung there on that cross and said, it is finished, he didn't mean, well, other stuff — you're gonna have to take care of some other stuff. No, he meant it is finished, under my feet. So here's what the enemy has: the enemy has lies and the enemy has intimidation. That's all he has. So I am deeply burdened when I hear the church talk about trouble times. Difficult times, yes. I'm not burdened by that. I am deeply burdened when I hear the church — and by church I mean big C church, the believers, the citizens of heaven — I'm really burdened when I hear them use words like fear. Am I troubled by what's happening in our nation? Yes. Am I afraid? I am not afraid.
Chris Fletcher:The enemy has lies and intimidation, and what he always does, he overplays his hand every time. He wants us to believe that there's a battle with the outcome in question. No, there's a battle, but the war's already done. The fire's not out, but the war's already done. Jesus has triumphed. He's alive, he's breathing, he's seated enthroned on our praises in the heavenly places. And we're awaiting his return for the fullness of the kingdom. So the moment that we have now is to be salt and light.
Chris Fletcher:And this is my big aha reveal moment — and then my sermon's done, we can pass the plates and do the altar call. It is time for the church to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Light to show the way, and salt to be the cleansing agent in society. We need to confess our sin. We need to live free from sin. We need to walk into holiness. We need to step — and I don't know why, maybe you're not seeing it on your screen, on my screen I see all the fireworks. I'm on Zoom.
Philip:There's no, no — it's not on your end, it's on mine. But as I was saying that, fireworks are going off.
Chris Fletcher:Whoa. Like, that's the Holy Spirit. That's what they go say — yes, preach it. We need to step into the fullness of the victory that Jesus won. It was for freedom that we were set free. We need to walk in freedom. We need to walk in purity, not perfection. We need to walk in grace and love, joy, peace, patience — I quote Galatians 5 — we need to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit and not be afraid. Jesus has won. Don't bury your head in the sand. Stand up and act like he's won, act like he's on the throne, act like he's alive, and act like you're a citizen of another kingdom.
Philip:I often say that fear is an attractant. Faith is what God uses, fear is what the devil uses, for each of their own ends. So when God sees faith — is it not impossible to please him without faith? But when the devil sees fear, it's like a shark smelling blood in the water. The Bible says that what Job feared came upon him. And what the devil does, he casts up these visionary images in our mind and presents a picture to you. And then if you respond to it in fear, then you give him the right to impose it into your life. And I come against the spirit of fear in the name of Jesus. If you are watching just now, let me tell you something — the fear that you have is not of God, because love, God's love, casts out fear every time. It's stronger, it's a more dynamic force than the fear of this world.

Lies and Intimidation: The Enemy's Only Weapons

Philip:And you're right, you're so right, Chris — the church tends to live in the fear world rather than the faith world. It's almost as if — and this is really silly, but it's philosophy, it's logic — we almost act as if whatever we see around us with our eyes is what's happening.
Chris Fletcher:So true. That makes as much sense as believing that when the sun goes down every night, it's gone. We're gonna live in darkness the rest of our lives — it's gone.
Philip:Oh, that is so true. Say that again. That is so powerful. Say that again.
Chris Fletcher:We live as if what we can see with our eyes is always a dictator of what it will be.
Philip:Unbelievable. Should we be informed? Yes. Should we be clear? Yes. Should we act? Yes.
Chris Fletcher:Now's our moment, man. This is our moment. This is why, when we trusted Jesus as our savior, he didn't just grab us on up outta here. It's not because the victory's not won. We're here to roll out the red carpet so that when he returns, we get to participate in the victory parade. Hallelujah. And this is infectious. This is infectious for people who are outside of the faith as well. They're looking for solutions. They're not looking for — I can stand clearly on the principles of scripture and I can preach with clarity and boldness and faith and all those things and not step back from anything.
Chris Fletcher:Look, I'm non-denominational, but I am an orthodox evangelical believer, yes sir, which means a whole lot of stuff. For the non-initiated out there, that means I don't major on the minor theological bits that people trip up on. But I'm real clear on what the scripture says, and I'm gonna preach that word, but in a way that is infectious to the world that's around us, because they are held captive by these principalities and powers that we're fighting against.

Salt and Light Call to Holiness

Philip:You said it well. I'm not fighting against a political candidate. I'm not fighting against a platform. I'm fighting against the powers and principalities that are holding people captive. People are not my enemy. They are captive to the enemy of the world's system.
Chris Fletcher:True. And look, I will spend the rest of my life reminding the enemy you have lost. I'm gonna rub your nose in the defeat, and I will storm hell with a water pistol if I'm the only one.
Philip:Let me tell you something. Let me encourage you — as you're talking just now, I can feel faith coming towards me. There's someone watching just now and you're being isolated and insulated in the circumstance you might be in, and you're looking at the world and you're looking at the church and you're thinking, oh my goodness, woe is me. Let me tell you something. In the year that King Uzziah died — Uzziah was a genius king, he had made all kinds of instruments of war — and the prophet went into the temple expecting God to be discouraged and downhearted. And he wrote, in the year that King Uzziah died, I saw also the Lord. And how was the Lord? High and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. God is bigger than any circumstance that comes along. The Bible says the earth is his footstool and he has you in the hollow of his hand.

Fear vs. Faith as Spiritual Attractants

Chris Fletcher:Can I say one parting word? I know we gotta go. This is why it's so important, believers, to be in fellowship and connection in a local church. I believe so fully in the local church. Because we are always created to be examples of new creation. You gotta get in connection with other believers. You can't do it alone. The church I attend when I'm not traveling — there's a young boy and his dad, and they have a story of how the dad adopted him, and it's a really messy story. And because I go to church, I see this boy every service, and I go up and I hug him and say, man, I've been praying for you this week. And he looks for me. And that's what coming together in the body does.
Philip:Manna Church is in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Really simple — www.mannachurch — Manna Church. It's in 21 states, but it has the ethos of my friend Chris Fletcher. And I encourage you to get in contact with him and say, listen, how can we join? How can we join this challenge to the kingdom of God? Chris, I love you very much. I appreciate you. I thank God you're a Manchester United supporter, and we are gonna pray that God casts out darkness. Thank you for being on Daily Faith today.
Philip:We appreciate you so very much. God bless you. Thank you for watching. Remember our work in Moldova. We need you to pray for us. We'll see you again soon. Bye-bye.
For over 25 years, the Cameron family has been changing the lives of orphans in Romania and Moldova — from providing running water, flushing toilets, and clean wells, to coal for heat, new windows, as well as food and clothing. They champion the physical needs of the orphans in these broken and desolate countries. Many of Moldova's orphans are saved from the horrors of trafficking through homes founded by the Camerons. And in the process, orphans become daughters and sons. They come to know their heavenly Father and are forever changed by the love of Jesus.
God help the Camerons lift these amazing young men and women out of darkness. Now no longer orphans, they want to return and invade that very same darkness with the light of Jesus Christ. The Orphan's Hands equips these daughters and sons to become missionaries. Your monthly gift of $31 will allow us to rescue and take in more girls and boys, saving them from the hell of human trafficking. Your monthly partnership will allow us to care for those in the Orphan's Hands homes in Moldova and Ukraine. If you want to join Philip and Chrissy in taking care of these precious young people, please contact us today by calling 833-Daily-Faith. You can also give by going online to www.dailyfaith.tv, or by writing to Post Office Box 25, Clinton, Tennessee 37716. So many lives depend on what we do. Thank you for loving the lost.

Common questions

What is Manna Church's vision for planting churches near military bases?

Chris Fletcher says the vision — originally planted in his father's heart — is to establish an expression of Manna Church near every US military installation in the world. He believes the US government is effectively the greatest mission-sending agency right now, placing citizens of the kingdom of heaven all over the globe, and Manna Church wants to be there to serve them spiritually.

Why does Chris Fletcher think the church shouldn't be living in fear right now?

Fletcher argues that the enemy's only weapons are lies and intimidation — because he has already been defeated at the cross. He says the church acts as though the outcome of the battle is still in question, but the war is already won: Jesus is alive, enthroned, and victorious, so fear is simply a response to a lie the enemy is telling.

What does Chris Fletcher say the church's role is in today's chaotic world?

He says the church is called to be salt and light — salt as a cleansing agent in society and light to show the way. That means walking in holiness, freedom, and the power of the Holy Spirit, and acting like citizens of another kingdom rather than people paralyzed by what they see around them.

How does Chris Fletcher connect Jesus' teaching in John 13–17 to what the church should be doing today?

Fletcher draws a parallel between the disciples' confusion and disappointment when Jesus didn't take a political throne on Palm Sunday and the church's anxiety today. He points out that those same hiding, discouraged disciples became 'world beaters' by Acts chapter two — and believes the church today is on the cusp of a similar move of God if it will listen to and live out Jesus' teaching from that upper-room discourse.

Why does Chris Fletcher say being part of a local church matters so much?

Fletcher believes believers are always meant to be examples of new creation, and that can't happen in isolation. He shares the example of a boy at his own church whose messy adoption story he knows personally — because he shows up every week, he can hug that boy and tell him he's been praying for him, and that kind of consistent, embodied community is what the body of Christ is designed to provide.
