Daily Faith with Philip Cameron: Special Guest Author John Ramirez

About this episode

Dr. John Ramirez — former third-highest-ranked devil worshiper in New York City and now author and evangelist — joins Philip Cameron to pull back the curtain on how Satan strategically attacks believers, families, and churches. Drawing from his new book Exposing the Devil's Playbook, Ramirez shares how he was recruited into satanism at age seven and a half, participated in a demonic Halloween wedding, and operated within a network stretching from the Bronx to Haiti, Cuba, and Miami before his dramatic conversion to Christ. Ramirez explains that the devil's playbook is about "showing you the footsteps of the devil on your spiritual hallway" — targeting your identity, marriage, ministry, and destiny. He unpacks how Halloween functions as a genuine spiritual gateway, why the church dangerously underestimates spiritual warfare, and how Satan attacked Jesus' identity immediately after His baptism by planting doubt with the words "if you are the Son of God." Using the example of Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps training blind — with holes drilled in his goggles — Ramirez illustrates how God builds believers' faith to swim in the dark. Quotes worth sharing

Just because you changed the name on something, you don't change the identity. You can call it harvest in your church. You could call it trunk or treat in your church. You can call it whatever you want to call it. It's still the same. It's like you telling me I'm gonna dress the devil in a white tuxedo and he's gonna be nice. Well, you can dress him in a white tuxedo, but you can't change the devil's identity. You can't change who he really is. So how you gonna dress Halloween and put makeup on it?

John Ramirez

God allowed the devil to turn off the light. God gives him permission so your faith could swim in the dark. Because in the end, God said, when I come back to the earth, what will I find? Not John Ramirez, not Philip — God wants to find faith on the earth.

John Ramirez

If you take care of God's house, I'll take care of yours. And sure enough, today me and my daughter are like peanut butter and jelly. My daughter got a bachelor's degree in psychology. She's doing very well. All because when you take care of God's house and you take care of God's children, God will never forget your home.

What's Discussed

Dr. John Ramirez, author of Exposing the Devil's Playbook and a former third-highest-ranked devil worshiper in New York City, recounts being recruited into satanism at age seven and a half through a family bloodline of warlocks and witches from Puerto Rico. He details how Halloween operates as a genuine spiritual gateway, how Satan immediately attacked Jesus' identity after His baptism (Matthew 4), and why the church at large underestimates active demonic opposition. Using Moses and Aaron's confrontation with Pharaoh's magicians (Exodus 7–8) and Michael Phelps' blind-swim training as illustrations, Ramirez equips believers to recognize the devil's tactics, build spiritual endurance, and fight the good fight of faith.

Intro

Philip:Hey, my friend. Welcome to Daily Faith. My name is Philip Cameron, and I'm delighted to have you with us. We have got a very important show today. I've been concerned for a long time in my many years of traveling. I've been traveling and speaking in churches in this country for 55 years now. And one of the things I've always been concerned about is how lightly we treat the work of the enemy, the devil in our lives. And we think if we ignore him, he'll go away. But let me tell you something. He uses all kinds of situations and all kinds of tools to work against you.
Philip:And I've got a very, very important guest today. Dr. John Ramirez is with us. He is an author and an evangelist from New York. And he has written a book that is absolutely imperative that you get. It's called Exposing the Devil's Playbook. And we're gonna be talking today about how the devil works against you, works in your family, works in the church, and how many times we blindly go along through life just thinking that that's kind of a superstitious part of the gospel. It doesn't really work. Jesus was confronted by the devil. The devil was not afraid to go and talk to Jesus and offer him the kingdoms of the world if he threw himself off the wall of the temple.
Philip:So let me tell you something. If he's willing to go and confront Jesus, you and I need to understand that he can work against us. And I'm so excited to have him with us, and he'll be joining us when the program starts. So if you can help me get this out today on social media — this program's done in two ways. We do a social media part that I'm talking to you now, and then we start the actual program that's seen on television stations and networks around the country. And if you can get other folk involved and hit your share button, and maybe you love your pastor, call them and say, watch the program today. Daily Faith is talking about how the devil's working in the church, and I think your eyes are gonna be opened when you hear what John's gotta say.
Philip:And so we just love you. We are so glad to have you with us, because God's gonna use today's program. You can go to youtube.com/dailyfaith — we're there all the time. Also, if you go to dailyfaith.tv, that's like home base for the Ministry of Daily Faith. All our programs are posted there. We do a lot of reels. I don't know if you've ever seen them or not, but we do reels which are like 45 seconds in length, and I just give a subject real fast. It takes 45 seconds to watch and you can watch them on YouTube. I think you'll really enjoy those, because I deal with stuff that I know that you are dealing with as well.
Philip:Listen, I am absolutely delighted to have you with us. I'm excited to have Dr. John Ramirez with us. And I believe God's gonna use this program to encourage you, because God's gonna rise up in your life against the powers of darkness. I'm delighted you're here. Welcome to Daily Faith.
Philip:Hey, my friend, welcome to Daily Faith. I am so glad you're with us today. We have got an important program that I want you to be a part of today. I've got a real exciting guest, Dr. John Ramirez. He has written a book, Exposing the Devil's Playbook. This man was a satanist for years. He knows the powers of darkness and how the devil works against you, against the church. And he's putting it down in an amazing book that I think is important.
Philip:And we've just gone through Halloween and we kind of glibly say, oh, it's trick or treat, it's no big deal. Let me tell you something, it is a Trojan horse trying to get into you to rehabilitate the powers of darkness in your life. There are a whole bunch of things we'll be talking about today, and I believe that God's gonna use this program to challenge you and to focus you. We've used the devil like some kind of mystical thing that's out there but doesn't really affect us, because when you're not doing anything for God, the devil can sit in the pew and say, well, hey, this is great. These folk aren't doing anything. I can just sit here and enjoy them.
Philip:But when you start moving in the Holy Ghost and you start moving in faith, boy, the devil wants to work against you. And we're gonna be talking about that today. You know someone that's been going through struggles and you feel the devil's been attacking them, they're under Satanic attack. Well, you need to call them right now. We're live as you're watching this program, and you need to call your friend right now and say, listen, tune into Daily Faith. They're gonna be talking about Satanic attack, and I think you're gonna be blessed by it.
Philip:I've been up most of last night. We have a mission work in Moldova and in Ukraine. As you know, Ukraine is at war with Russia, being invaded by Russia. What most folk don't know is that Moldova was one part of the Soviet Union, and Russia looks at Moldova the same as it looks at Ukraine. So once they get Ukraine finished, they're gonna come and get Moldova. That country is under red alert as we speak. And we've got a fabulous place called Vara Village. And we've built this amazing — the largest lake in the country. It was built for rich folk to have summer homes, and they poisoned the lake. And the buildings sat empty for nine years, unfinished. And we bought this village.
Philip:And we take young girls and boys that are at threat of trafficking — either orphans or from poverty-stricken homes that you can't imagine. And we take them in here. Every girl you're watching right now is worth $300,000 a year to a trafficker. And we take them into our homes, we put them back in school, share the gospel with them. And these amazing kids are now missionaries. When the war broke out, they went up to the border and stood for days and days and days in blizzard conditions, feeding refugees that were running for their lives.
Philip:Last night — I don't know if you noticed — but today the stock market has gone way, way down hundreds of points. The reason being is that last night Ukraine used the offensive missiles that the Biden administration gave to them to strike inside Russian territory. And the Russians are now up in arms, way worse than it was. It has exploded overnight. We've got a home of girls in Odessa, a beautiful place. And we are most concerned for those girls, because the one thing I don't want is ever to have them caught by Russian soldiers.
Philip:And even worse than that, there are now 10,000 North Korean soldiers working and fighting with the Russians in Ukraine. We need to pray for them. And I just ask you that God will cover our kids with the blood of Jesus. That all this war that's around them — you imagine living every night not knowing if a missile's gonna blow up your house where you're staying. And one of the kids that we have in Moldova, she's a lovely girl called Nadia. She comes from a bitterly impoverished family, and two of our sisters along with Nadia live now in Vara House and in Vara Village. And she's going to school, and God is using us to save her life and her family from utter destruction. And she did a wee video and sent it to us. Watch this.
My name is Najesda and I am currently pursuing a master's degree in leadership and training. Growing up in a family with nine children was both a challenge and a blessing. We lived in a tiny house where all nine of us crammed into one room while our parents slept in the kitchen. My mom and dad didn't have a formal education, which meant my dad worked tirelessly in construction, while my mom devoted herself to caring for us.
Our childhood was tough. There were days when we struggled to find something to eat in the cold winter. We often bundled up in layers of clothing just to stay warm. Celebrating birthdays felt impossible. We simply couldn't afford special meals. Yet somehow God never abandoned us. He always looked after us in ways we couldn't even see.
From the age of six, we would rise before dawn around 4:00 AM to work the fields so we could have something to eat. This often made us late for school, and other kids sometimes teased us, even bullying us because of our poverty. Those moments were painful, but they also shaped us. We learned to lean on each other, to support one another through every hardship.
When I finished high school, deep down I knew my parents wouldn't have the resources to help me continue my education. But their lack of schooling inspired me to seek out new paths for myself. So when I discovered the Orphan's Hands, it felt like a miracle. I could hardly believe that such a family existed, one that could offer us so much hope and support.
When I first arrived at Vara Village and saw the beautiful homes, my heart was overwhelmed. Our house had none of these comforts. We didn't even have a bathroom or proper flooring. In that moment, I truly understood the depth of God's goodness. Through the Orphan's Hands family, I felt enveloped in God's love in a way I had never experienced before.
My heartfelt encouragement to you is to place your trust in God, no matter the circumstances. Find the courage to hold on during life's challenges, because it's often in those struggles that new beginnings emerge. Remember, this is not the end. It's just the start of something beautiful.
Philip:Wow. An amazing story of grace and mercy. That girl caught by a trafficker — now, these aren't the traffickers. Don't go after pretty girls. That's the kind of girl they look for. A girl that's been brought up in poverty, naive, never had money, trying to get an education, doesn't know what to do. And they come and they offer them bogus jobs, like, my uncle's got a restaurant in Italy, or we're looking for a babysitter for our grandkids. And that little girl will get in the back of the car and she's gone forever, done. And they use them 30 to 50 times a day until they kill them.
Philip:And they can make — look how many girls are on that video — $300,000 each per year per girl. Three girls, the guts of a million bucks. And we just don't think that's right. We don't think that's fair. And my feeling is, if the church — if that girl's worth $300,000 a year to the trafficker, is she worth a dollar a day to the church? What we're looking for — all that you've seen, all the houses built, all the vans we have, all the incredible ministries — just for the bus tickets to get these kids to school every day costs over $3,000 a month just for bus tickets.
Philip:And we just need folk like you to say, I value their lives. And we are turning orphans into sons and daughters. And then those sons and daughters are becoming missionaries. Each home adopts a village. They go to every poor villager. Every widow gets their wood chopped and their gardens dug and their house cleaned, continually caring and ministering. And we are just looking for people. Everything you've seen has been done by someone just like you giving a dollar a day. A dollar a day won't change your world, but I'll promise you, a dollar a day will change Nadia and her sisters.
Philip:You can help us if you can. If the Lord's talking to your heart, you can just write to Daily Faith, PO Box 25, Clinton, Tennessee 37716. So simple, PO Box 25. You can actually go the easy way — go to dailyfaith.tv. There's a giving page there. There's also a whole bunch of stuff you can buy. We've got a merchandise page with baseball hats and t-shirts and all kinds of stuff that you'll enjoy wearing. But if you go to dailyfaith.tv, there's a giving page. Or you can — if you're like me, I'm an old-fashioned guy — just pick up a phone and call 833-DAILY-FAITH. And if you call right now, a live person will be there.
Philip:And I believe there are people watching. We are about to expand into a whole new area of the country on the western side, beside Romania. And we're building — we've bought a property, two houses and a barn. And we're believing God for that right now. And we're gonna take in 50 little kids to protect them again. So let the Lord talk to your heart. I believe that our businessmen and women, that God has blessed you for this purpose to care for those in need. So if you do that, I would really appreciate it. And how those kids in Moldova and Ukraine certainly would.
Philip:I'm delighted to have with me John Ramirez. He is an author and evangelist from New York, New York. And between my accent and his accent, you're gonna have a terrible time today — I'm just warning you now. But John was in satanism for years and years and years. And I think he's got a lot to share with us. He's got a brand new book, Exposing the Devil's Playbook. And I think we need to understand that we're not living — see, all this stuff going on in the world isn't just coincidence. That isn't just happening. That is the devil at work. And John, I'm delighted to have you with us today. Thank you so much for taking the time — I know you're a busy man — but thank you for taking the time to be on Daily Faith today.
John Ramirez:Thank you so much, my friend, Phil. You know, one thing I just wanna share quick — that story really touched me with the young girl. And I have a daughter. My daughter's 35. And one thing I've learned throughout my faith walk with the Lord, from people that are listening: if you take care of God's house, that will take care of your house.
Philip:Well, that's the truth.
John Ramirez:And I used to go preach and I used to do altar calls for young people, separate for little people, separate, pray over them. When my daughter was having her challenges, when my daughter was having her attacks, when things were dark and my relationship with my daughter — I kept praying for other people. And God said, if you take care of my house, I'll take care of yours. And sure enough, today me and my daughter are like peanut butter and jelly. My daughter got a bachelor's degree in psychology. She's doing very well.
John Ramirez:All because when you take care of God's house and you take care of God's children, God will never forget your home. He'll take care of yours. The Bible says that he's the father of the fatherless. So when you care for orphans, you are caring for God's children. And when you care for God's children, you are putting yourself in line for God's blessing.
Philip:And I appreciate those kind words. We are right now, with this war going on, it's really hard. I'm living — my world is split into it right now, because I'm always concerned about what's going on over there. You've written a book called Exposing the Devil's Playbook. Tell us your background. How did you come to this point in your life? What were you into for many, many years?

Ramirez's Background in Satanism

John Ramirez:Well, many years — I was like the third highest ranked devil worshiper in New York City. I was recruited from the age of seven and a half. At the age of eight I had my first ceremony done to me. My father — my bloodline on my father's side was warlocks and witches from Puerto Rico. When we came to the United States, immigrated in the Bronx, we all became connected with other devil worshippers from New York City to Haiti, from Haiti to Cuba, from Cuba to Miami and back to New York City. And we went to demon church. We were trained and equipped. We were discipled by the devil. I had contracts. I did all the contracts. From the age of seven and a half to the age of 35, I sold my soul to the devil.
John Ramirez:I had a Halloween wedding. I had a demonic Halloween wedding. The witches and warlocks came, and demons — people got demon-possessed by mediums to baptize my wedding. So I have some Halloween's — I have John Halloween's.

Halloween as a Spiritual Gateway

Philip:Halloween's a real thing, isn't it?
John Ramirez:Halloween is a real thing. Halloween is really giving the devil a spotlight to give him a force of worship and force of glory. Because even the Discovery Channel — it's a worldly channel, not even a Christian channel — and they show you the darkness and the origin of Halloween. And this is a worldly channel exposing Halloween for what it is. And we still — not me, but the Christian church at large — still celebrate it. Just because you changed the name on something, you don't change the identity. So you could change the name.
Philip:And what struck me as you're talking just now — you were first initiated in this darkness when you were seven and a half years old. I mean, you were a little kid. The devil's after our kids.

How the Devil Targets Children

John Ramirez:Oh, big time. Big time. The devil knows that the mind of a child is fresh. It's easy. It is like a hard drive, right? People think Microsoft made the first hard drive. Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you. Jesus did. So the devil knows how he can fashion young people's minds. He can incarcerate spiritually young people's minds. Today you see more tragedies where young people either go out and kill people or go shoot people in schools than some old person. Why? Because the devil was after the young generation.
Philip:Today I was in a radio station in Los Angeles years ago, and the station manager came to me. We had some of our kids and were talking about what we're doing in our mission work. And he came to me and he says, let me tell you something. He says, I was used and sold as part of initiation rites. He says, for years and years my father and mother would take me to these ceremonies and drop me off. They'd take me up into the woods and do all — I mean, he told me some of the stuff that I can't even mention on this program. And he says, the church is sound asleep as to what the devil is up to today.

The Church Asleep to Spiritual Warfare

John Ramirez:Yeah. And one of the things I shared — this is the book right here, Exposing the Devil's Playbook — spiritual warfare to equip you for the battle. And the thing about the Devil's Playbook is basically it's showing you the footsteps of the devil on your spiritual hallway. That he's trying to get into your season, trying to get into your life, your marriage, your ministry, your destiny. And the church at large has said, oh, everything is done, you don't have to do nothing. But God told the Israelites, I gave you a land of milk and honey, but you still have to go in there and fight for it.
John Ramirez:I mean, if everything was done, what would David say? Teach my hands to war. And if everything was okay, and we're sitting in a La-Z-Boy chair until Jesus comes back, why would Paul say in 2 Timothy, his last epistle, he said, I fought the good fight? He didn't say, I took it easy, I went on vacation. So many Christians today say, I'm oppressed, I'm depressed, I'm being tormented. We got sickness in our family. We got generational curses. My grandmother had cancer, mama has cancer, auntie has cancer, sister's got cancer. How do you deal with these things? And the devil has a playbook on you. So why can't you have a playbook on him?
John Ramirez:And the thing about the Devil's Playbook — if I'm already saying I have a Jezebel spirit attacking me, then I miss the footsteps of this attack coming at me. And I teach and equip — and the key word is disciple — believers how to fight the good fight. How to stand against the arsenals of the devil.

Satan's Attack on Identity After Baptism

Philip:We talked about it before we came on the air. Jesus never took the devil lightly. Never. And people — I always get the feeling that the church thinks that the devil's some kind of dark fairy story that doesn't really deal with us. That's not it. Jesus loves me, and that's all. But when Jesus was fasting — and fasting is when you're at your most spiritual height and power — the devil came and began to tempt Jesus. The devil tempted Jesus. What makes the church think that if the devil's gonna tempt Jesus, the church isn't gonna be tempted by the devil either? I mean, it blows my mind.
John Ramirez:Think about it. Jesus gets baptized in the Jordan. And this is how the devil works. This is what Exposing the Devil's Playbook teaches the believer — how to fight the good fight, how to listen to one voice and obey one voice and follow one voice and believe one voice. I give an example. Jesus got baptized. God speaks: this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. He goes into the wilderness. The first thing the devil said was, if you are the Son of God — if you are — I mean, it was confirmed already. And then he goes into the wilderness and the first thing the devil attacks is his character and his identity. If you are the Son of God, putting doubt, fear, unbelief, and question marks.
John Ramirez:And I teach believers how to fight through that, because we are the children of God whether we wake up with a bad day or we wake up with a good day. We still belong to him. Don't drink the Kool-Aid. Don't believe the lies. Learn how to fight against the lies. You know, one of the things I share in one of the chapters in the book — it's called The Greatest Wall. And I'll share a quick second of it. Here's the biggest fight in Exodus 7 and 8. Moses shows up, Aaron shows up, God shows up. You know, to the schoolyard — I'm just giving it to the schoolyard now. Pharaoh shows up, the devil shows up, and the witches show up. And they go into this battle. Turn the staff into a serpent. They do the same thing. Turn the water into blood. The magicians do the same thing.

Moses, Pharaoh, and Spiritual Endurance

John Ramirez:Now the believer, when he starts seeing that the battle is going back and forth, the believer shouldn't bring doubt, fear, unbelief. Instead of bringing your prayer life being stronger, your faith being stronger, you knowing that you have a spiritual resume — if God did it yesterday, he did it last week, he's going to do it again. Stay strong. Keep your eyes on God. Don't move, don't shake, don't bake. Keep your eyes on the Lord. Be prayed up. Push through prayer. And this is what I teach the believer.
John Ramirez:And then they go into the forefront of the fight. And what God told Moses: strike the dust of the earth. And he strikes the dust of the earth. Now think about it — strike the dust of the earth. This is dirt. And God turns it into a DNA, puts wings on it. He turned dirt into gnats. And then what did the magicians say to Pharaoh? This is the finger of God. We can't do this. You see, God is teaching your spiritual endurance. God is working your faith.
John Ramirez:I have another chapter in the book — real quick. Michael Phelps, 28 medals, 23 gold. But how did he win 28 medals? He was trained by his coach swimming in the dark — turning the lights off at the pool, putting holes in his goggles so the water could get in. Michael Phelps went to Beijing, the water went into his goggles. But the training kicked in. He knew how to swim in the dark. You know why? Because he was trained to swim in difficult times, in uncertain times, in dark places. And he won 28 medals, 23 gold.

Michael Phelps and Training Faith in Darkness

Philip:I never knew that, John. That's amazing. They put holes in his goggles so the water was in. When it happened, he was able to go through the storm. The training kicked in and he still went and won the medal on the other side. Because it wasn't what he could see — it was the training that he had.
John Ramirez:And the last thing is — the devil doesn't turn off the light. God allowed the devil to turn off the light. God gives him permission so your faith could swim in the dark. Because in the end, God said, when I come back to the earth, what will I find? Not John Ramirez, not Philip — God wants to find faith on the earth. So don't let the devil turn into your fate when you can train and be a discipled believer and know the devil's playbook. Because the devil's got limits.
Philip:This book you've written is important. We don't wrestle against flesh and blood. We wrestle against the powers of darkness. And I know that someone's watching us right now, John, and your family is under attack. And you think, well, it's just stuff happening. I've got news for you. The devil is let loose on the earth, seeking whom he may devour. And the greatest way to overcome the enemy is to be aware of what the enemy is doing. When you grasp what the devil's doing — this book will help you see the fingerprints of the devil in your family, in your body, in your business.

Becoming a Weapon in God's Hands

Philip:And when you read this book, you'll have aha moments. Oh my — oh, that's why this person's saying this against me, because it's not them. The devil doesn't go with horns and a forked tail. He uses people. Like God uses people, so does the devil.
John Ramirez:Oh, big time. And your eyes — listen, the more exposure you got on spiritual warfare, the more you know how to fight. You know how to stand your ground. And you know how to be more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus, our Lord, our Savior. Because no weapon formed — we can quote scripture, but if your hands are not trained to fight the good fight, then what's the sense of it? It's like having a pitcher who can throw a hundred miles an hour. But if you don't teach them control, if they don't hit the plate, the pitcher's arm will only last a season. So the Book of Exposing the Devil's Playbook will bring spiritual structure to your life so you can be the best you can be. You can be the best weapon in the hands of Almighty God.
Philip:Listen, I want you to get this book. You can get it in two places. One is mycharismashop.com, or you can buy directly from John's ministry, johnramirez.org. Do you see on the screen right now? johnramirez.org. And I want you to get this book. You know someone that's going through hell at this moment and you're thinking, what's going on there? Well, this book's gonna help you see that. John has a ministry. It's out of New York. The PO Box is 286372. Do you see that right there? 286372, New York, 10128.
Philip:And I think for a Scotsman and a Puerto Rican, we did pretty well today with our accents. I think we survived. And you can go to amazon.com and get the book there. But I think with our accents, we survived. We did it.
John Ramirez:Thank God for the Holy Spirit's anointing.
Philip:Thank you for watching Daily Faith today, guys. We'll see you again. Thank you, John. Bye-bye. God bless you.
John Ramirez:Thank you.
For over 25 years, the Cameron family has been changing the lives of orphans in Romania and Moldova — from providing running water, flushing toilets, and clean wells to coal for heat, new windows, as well as food and clothing. They champion the physical needs of the orphans in these broken and desolate countries. Many of Moldova's orphans are saved from the horrors of trafficking through homes founded by the Camerons. And in the process, orphans become daughters and sons. They come to know their heavenly Father and are forever changed by the love of Jesus.
God helped the Camerons lift these amazing young men and women out of darkness. Now no longer orphans, they want to return and invade that very same darkness with the light of Jesus Christ. The Orphan's Hands equips these daughters and sons to become missionaries. Your monthly gift of $31 will allow us to rescue and take in more girls and boys, saving them from the hell of human trafficking. Your monthly partnership will allow us to care for those in the Orphan's Hands homes in Moldova and Ukraine.
If you want to join Philip and Chrissy in taking care of these precious young people, please contact us today by calling 833-DAILY-FAITH. Ramirez argues that Halloween is a real spiritual event that gives the devil a 'force of worship and force of glory,' pointing out that even secular channels like the Discovery Channel document its dark origins. He says renaming it — calling it 'harvest' or 'trunk or treat' in church — doesn't change its identity, comparing it to dressing the devil in a white tuxedo: the outfit changes, but the devil's nature doesn't.

What is the main idea behind John Ramirez's book Exposing the Devil's Playbook?

Ramirez says the book is designed to show believers 'the footsteps of the devil on your spiritual hallway' — how Satan targets your season, marriage, ministry, and destiny — and to equip and disciple Christians to fight back. He argues that too many believers assume spiritual victory is automatic, when scripture (David asking God to 'teach my hands to war,' Paul saying 'I fought the good fight') shows active spiritual warfare is required.

How does John Ramirez explain the way the devil attacks a believer's identity?

Using Jesus's temptation as the example, Ramirez points out that immediately after God declared 'This is my beloved Son,' the devil's first move in the wilderness was 'If you are the Son of God' — injecting doubt, fear, and unbelief into an identity that had just been confirmed. He teaches believers to recognize this same tactic in their own lives and to hold onto who they are in Christ regardless of whether they're having a good day or a bad day.

What is the Michael Phelps illustration John Ramirez uses, and what does it mean for spiritual warfare?

Ramirez shares that Phelps's coach trained him by turning off the pool lights and putting holes in his goggles so water would seep in — and when that exact scenario happened at the Beijing Olympics, the training kicked in and Phelps still won gold. Ramirez applies this to faith: God sometimes allows the devil to 'turn off the light' not to defeat you, but to build the spiritual endurance and faith needed to keep swimming — and winning — in the dark.
