Are you willing to go the extra mile?

There is amazing power in showing grace when someone tries to make you live by law. In the days back in Jesus' time, there was a law, a Roman law, that if a Roman soldier stopped any citizen on the street, they could be going to the doctors, they could be doing something important, but a Roman soldier had the authority to make the citizen, the Jewish citizen, carry his pack, whatever it was, for one mile. And the Jews would pick up this pack and count out the steps until they fulfilled their requirement by the law, and then they would throw the packet down and say, I'm out of here, I'm done. So Jesus comes along and contradicts everything that is in their mind, what they're thinking about. And he says, look, if anyone compels you to go a mile, go with him the second mile. In other words, instead of working in law, work in grace. Be kinder, be more gracious. Do the extra, go further. And by doing so, you are being an example of the love and the kindness that comes from the heart of God. I know there are people in your life that drive you mad. They don't have any no's in their life. They just think that you are part of their life to make it comfortable for them. And you do what you got to do, but it isn't always what you want to do. Why don't you say, instead of going with them the second mile, I'm going to go with him the second mile. And if you're prepared to go with him the second mile, it sure makes a difference in your outlook and your attitudes. And if you do it, it'll change your world. And if you're prepared to go with him the second mile, you're going to go with him the second mile. And if you're prepared to go with him the second mile, you're going to go with him the second mile.
