Drawing from Nehemiah's example of building Jerusalem's walls with a trowel and a sword, Philip Cameron calls believers to both nurture their family's faith and boldly defend them. He urges every Christian to stand firm against opposition and declare that their household will serve the Lord.

Nehemiah was sent back to build the walls of Jerusalem. They had fallen down. The whole city was desolate. The temple was destroyed. And Nehemiah had a vision and a revelation and the ability to rebuild these walls. But there was opposition. People first mocked him and said, If a fox's tail brushed against that wall, they'll fall down. And then when they kept on building and didn't, when the mocking didn't stop them, then the threats and accusations came. And Nehemiah had a brilliant plan. He put each man to build the section of wall that was in front of his personal house. In other words, if the wall that he was building was weak and the enemy came, his wife and his daughters would be the first ones taken by the enemy coming across the wall. And he told the men to build with a trowel in one hand and a sword in the other. Someone texted me the other day and says, Philip, you are stringent and direct about the Christian faith against the Islamic faith. And you're very outspoken about it. And I used Nehemiah and Nehemiah's building on the wall as an example of build with a trowel, have a sword in your hand. My job as a father of my family and my grandchildren and my whole family, my job first and foremost is to find faith and let them find Jesus and give their lives to Christ. That's my first thing. My second thing is to protect them. So I'll spend my life building the house of Cameron for the gospel. But I will tell you this, if I have to, I will take up a sword and stand for them at the same time. So in your life, you better be a builder and prepare to fight both at the same time. Don't allow the laughs and the mockings of the enemy. Don't allow the threats of what's coming over the wall. Just make sure that your wall is built strong. Make sure that you are the one that's standing in front of your family. I'll fight for my family a whole lot quicker than I'll fight for yours because they're mine. And I believe that in the church and in the nation today, we've got to have a people that will stand up and say, this is what I believe and this is what I stand for and this is what my family is going to stand for. And as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord with a trowel and a sword. If you do it, it'll change your life. Thank you. Thank you.
