Dr. Don Allen’s Healing Testimony: Faith, Miracles & Victory

About this episode

Dr. Don Allen, senior pastor of The Church at War Hill in North Georgia, joins Philip Cameron to share a raw and remarkable healing testimony that will ignite faith in anyone facing a life-threatening diagnosis. Leading a ministry that spans six campuses, a radio station broadcasting to 218 countries, a global missions-verification network called RL and Global, and a Bible college, Dr. Allen had been preaching eight to ten times a week for over three decades — until his doctors told him to go home and plan his funeral. Dr. Allen recounts going blind in the pulpit on New Year's Eve while preaching the gospel, followed by a rapid physical decline that left him ineligible for a transplant. Rather than retreat, he declared, "I'm going to go preaching then — what's it gonna do, kill me?" He began speaking Psalm 118:17 over his failing body — "You shall live and not die, and proclaim the works of the Lord" — and within months his numbers reversed so dramatically that his specialist said, "I have never seen this in my medical career." This episode is a direct word for anyone the enemy has told is finished. Dr. Allen challenges viewers to stop planning their demise and start walking in their God-given assignment. Quotes worth sharing

They told me that this organ was completely dead. There was no hope. And I started looking at that place in my body and saying, 'You shall live and not die, and you will proclaim the word of the Lord in the land of the living.'

Dr. Don Allen

He said, I have never in my life seen this in my medical career. He said, your bad numbers are in half. Your good numbers are double. You're still dealing with sickness, but you don't need a transplant. I'll see you in six months.

Dr. Don Allen

Stop looking and planning your demise. Just stop thinking about your exit. Start thinking about your assignment from on high and see what God can do.

What's Discussed

Pastor Dr. Don Allen of The Church at War Hill — a six-campus ministry in North Georgia with a radio station reaching 218 countries, a global missions-verification network (RL and Global), and a Bible college — shares his personal healing testimony with Philip Cameron. After decades of ministry including losing 42 team members in the Haiti earthquake, Dr. Allen went blind while preaching on New Year's Eve, was told he was ineligible for a transplant, and was sent home to die. He responded by preaching more, declaring Psalm 118:17 over his body, and by November his doctors confirmed a stunning medical reversal, restoring his transplant eligibility.

Intro

Philip:Hey, my friends. Welcome to Daily Faith. My name is Philip Cameron, and I am absolutely delighted you are with us. God puts you in places and handles you, and moves you to where he wants you to be because he has a word for you. And I believe today, Daily Faith has got a word for you that God is going to speak into your circumstance.
Philip:You be discouraged. Boy, it's easy to get discouraged. In fact, I heard a story one time the devil decided to retire, and he gathered all the demons of hell together. And he says, guys, I've done enough damage in the world, I'm going to retire. And the demons were shocked. Oh, master, what are you doing? And then an evil glint came in Satan's eye and he said, but I'm keeping one weapon with me. I'm gonna take one weapon with me into retirement. And all the demons wonder what it was.
Philip:What is this weapon you're taking with you into retirement, master? And the devil smiled and he said, discouragement. If the devil can discourage you, he doesn't have to divert you. If the devil can discourage, he can stop you from accomplishing what God has got in store for you.
Philip:And this program today, God has arranged you to meet with us. I've got a great friend, a tremendous man of God. Dr. Don Allen is a pastor of a church called the Church at War Hill. It is a crazy church — if ever you're in the North Georgia area, you've gotta find this church. He's been associated for eight years with the North Georgia revival, where tens of thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands of people have been healed and restored and all kinds of miracles taking place when they are baptized. It's just amazing. And he's a friend of mine — that's the most important thing. And he's gonna be with us today to share how God brought him through a tremendous hell battle.
Philip:And you remember, you're sick in your body today, and you're thinking, I'm sick of being sick. He can get that way. You know, that's discouragement. The devil comes along and says, you'll always be this way. It's never gonna get better. Your marriage will never work. You'll always be poor. You'll always be sick. That's what he does. He's the accuser of the brethren. He's always working on you, getting to you. Well, I can tell you, God's on your side. And if God be for you, who can be against you? God loves you so much that he died for you. And I'll tell you what, the best is yet to come.
Philip:And I'm just so looking forward to you meeting my friend and hearing what the Lord is gonna say through him to you. We have a mission work in Moldova. 35 years ago, I adopted a wee baby in an orphanage in a Romania town called Ra. I had no idea when I saw that wee boy and picked him up off the crib and told them, I don't know how I'm gonna do this, but I'm never gonna forget you. I'm coming back to get you. It took me a year to adopt him. And during that time, I discovered there were no toilets.
Philip:The babies went to the bathroom in a coffee can with a rough edge. And they sat them for hours and all of the bottoms were cut with this coffee can. The beds were painted with lead paint, horsehair mattresses. The roofs leaked. It was just horrendous. And over the year of waiting to adopt my boy, I fixed up this orphanage and became addicted to caring and loving the orphan. I had no calling in it. It was nothing. When my dad asked me to go to Romania, I thought he was crazy.
Philip:I want nothing to do with it. I had no burden for orphans. That was so — the Red Cross did that kind of stuff. But God broke my heart with it. And for the last 35 years, we've been going back and forth through a country called Moldova and Ukraine. You may have heard of Ukraine. We've been there for eight years. Long before the war broke out, we had a beautiful home in Ukraine. And in fact, the other night, our girls were out with the house parent. They went all got dressed up to have a cup of coffee and went out and were caught in a missile attack in Odessa.
Philip:And they actually sent me the video of that. So they live under this constant terror. And in Moldova, we have a village called Vara Village. It's the most beautiful place you've ever seen. It was built originally for rich folks to have a summer dacha right on the biggest lake of the country. And they poisoned the lake — the lake got algae in it. And then their genius idea was they decided to kill the algae by dumping truckloads of chlorine into that lake. Killed it and killed those six houses right there.
Philip:The project fell apart and unfinished houses sat for over nine years. And one day I was in Moldova and someone told me about it. And I went there, walked around the place with Andrew and saw this place and the Holy Ghost challenged me. And we bought the place, fixed up every house. And I'm here to tell you the houses are full. They're paid for, they're full of young people. And these young kids that come to us from orphanages, put on the street, given a couple of bucks — traffickers get them, use them 30 to 50 times a day.
Philip:And they come to us instead. We invite them to come to our place and we put them back in school, university. Some are doctors, some are lawyers, some are police officers. It's amazing what God's done. But what thrills us the most is when they come to us lost, they find Jesus. And God turns them from orphans to sons and daughters, and then from sons and daughters into missionaries. And our kids — orphan kids that no one wanted — are full-time out there sharing the gospel, having camps, helping churches, digging widows' gardens, repainting and fixing houses up.
Philip:And they just sent me a video a few days ago from the end of the year to let me know what's been going on. I want you to watch this and be blessed. Every girl you see in this video is worth $300,000 a year to the trafficker. But to God, they're priceless. Watch this.
Philip:It is amazing what grace can do. When these kids come to us with the clothes on their back and they've been told in the orphanage, you're garbage, your mother doesn't want you, your father doesn't want you — and we tell them, if you're born, God has a plan. You're not a mistake. God has a purpose for your life. And the outworking of grace in their lives is the most amazing thing. I've been preaching a long time, and it is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. Every one of the house parents in our homes were once orphans. Most of the ones we rescued when they were young.
Philip:Some of these kids have been with us for almost 20 years now, married with their own babies, and they're the house parents raising and loving the kids that come to Vara Village. Last September, we had 25 kids coming one day. We've just given the go-ahead. We've just pulled the trigger for a crazy adventure. We're buying a farm with two houses and a barn and an orchard with 12 acres of land altogether. And we are building a youth camp in the barn area. We're going to build a youth camp.
Philip:But the two houses are gonna be used for little kids, for kids from four to 16 years of age. And it's a brand new adventure. We just signed the paperwork a few days ago and we'll be sharing more and showing you video as we go along. But every time we open a new house, it requires 300 folks giving a dollar a day. All the stuff you've seen done in that video was done by somebody just like you, giving $1 a day. You can change a life for eternity for $1 a day.
Philip:And you could do that and help us. We would appreciate it. Every time we reach 300 people, we are able to open one more house to rescue these kids from abuse like you can't believe, and pain and rejection. And if you can help us, we would really appreciate it. Please — our businessmen watching and businesswomen that God has blessed — help us to make this thing happen. We are looking for sponsors for these two new houses. And you might wanna honor someone. The houses in Vara Village are named after donors — Daystar, for example, gave one of the houses. Dan Betzer, a great man of God, one of the houses is named after him. So pray about that if you would.
Philip:Our address is really simple: PO Box 25, Clinton, Tennessee 37716. The quickest way and like a ground zero for our ministry is DailyFaith.tv. There's a giving page there, there's all kinds of information. And you can watch this program over and over again if you wish. And you can also learn more from OrphansHands.org — OrphansHands.org. And there's also an 800 number: 833-Daily Faith. 833-Daily Faith. Please, please pray about helping us saving these kids from a life of utter hell. Thank you so much.
Philip:I've got a dear friend with me today. Dr. Don Allen is a great man of God. He never fails to inspire me. Find people that inspire you. Find people that make you wanna be better and do more. That's the kind of folk you surround yourself with. And Don is one of these men that I just love so much. Don, it is great to have you with us on Daily Faith today. Thank you for joining with us.
Dr. Don Allen:God, I love you. How are you doing? It's such an honor to see my friend. What a blessing. And think about all the connections God's given us — that's amazing. Made me excited when this morning came because I knew I was gonna get a moment with you today.

Scope of Church at War Hill Ministries

Philip:And the great thing is when I know you're gonna be on the program, I feel like I can kind of backslide, 'cause I know you're gonna bring the word and you've got always vision and purpose. And let me tell you, folks, every time I meet this man, I leave and I'll say, Andrew, we're not doing enough. We've got to do more for Jesus. We've got to do more. And that's the kind of inspiration we need to be to each other, provoking each other. The Bible says to good works.
Dr. Don Allen:Yeah. And I don't think a lot of people realize the significance of your program, because not only are you helping people around the world, but you have become — I guess the word is emissary of hope to pastors all across this nation. And I know that I personally have enjoyed growing in our relationship. And you know, we've had literally thousands of pastors over the last few years come under our care and ministry. That's amazing. But you have become my friend and you probably have spoken into my life as much as anybody over the last few years.
Philip:That's amazing. Thank you so much. Tell us, tell us the scope of what you do. This blows my mind. You have the Church at War Hill, but that's the tip of the iceberg. Tell the folks what God's got you all involved in around the world.
Dr. Don Allen:Yeah. And it's amazing how some of that has changed in the last year, and we're gonna talk about that in a moment. But the Church at War Hill is in North Georgia. We are six campuses that extend from Dawsonville, Georgia all the way down into North Florida. Amazing. We have literally over a thousand people saved a year at the central campus alone. Lives are being changed all over. We have a radio station that started in 218 countries and territories in all 50 states.
Dr. Don Allen:Victory 91.5. You can listen to it wherever you are in the world. It's Victory Radio. Is that correct? Victory Radio, but also the More Music app, which is the largest of its kind app that has this amazing library that you can download the music and listen to what you need to listen to and be a part of podcasts and some of the leading teachers on the planet are a part of that. Amazing. So we'd love for you to tune into those areas.

RL Global Missions Verification Network

Dr. Don Allen:Then we have what we call RL and Global — that's where we validate and verify missions all around the world. That started kind of by accident, but somebody's raising money for something and some churches don't know, can we trust these people? They get Facebook messages from people saying, hey, support this work in whatever country. And we actually send people into those areas — for example, into Ukraine. We have actual people there who have connected with Daily Faith so that they can be a part of what God is doing there. And we know that it's real. We know that people can support this cause and that means so much to be able to connect to that. We have a Bible college, a school. We have all these different things that God uses.
Philip:And how many times a week do you preach on average?
Dr. Don Allen:I was for about 20 years averaging eight to 10 times every week. But after last year, I've been averaging five to six right now.
Philip:So last year something happened. So here you are, literally heading this conglomerate of ministries in every different aspect around the world, and something happened. Tell us what happened that changed your world.

Haiti Earthquake — 42 Team Members Lost

Dr. Don Allen:Yeah. We've had a lot of things happen over the last — next weekend actually will be my 34th year of pastoring here. Amazing. And it's amazing what God has done, but we've gone through all kinds of different changes. I remember one of the largest hurdles we've faced was we had built an amazing ministry in Haiti. And during the earthquake we had 42 of our team members who were killed in the earthquake. Oh goodness. And our members who did survive literally climbed out of the rubble and opened hospitals where we could find no other ones. We sent an ambulance down and we were able to carry people to that makeshift hospital and care for them.
Dr. Don Allen:And you know, there's been all these things that have happened. But you know, the scripture says that Jesus was a man acquainted with sorrows and grief. And I'm always quoting that scripture, and I think somebody that's listening today needs to hear what I'm about to say. You know, we wanna be like Christ. And so we're always there for people in their time of crisis. We're there when they lose someone, we're there when they're sick. We visited people. But I have a new acquaintance with sorrows and grief and sickness personally.
Dr. Don Allen:You know, John Kilpatrick came and we were sitting down talking, and you know, we have the North Georgia revival. He pastored the Brownsville Revival and he was sharing with me that people talk about the wonderfulness of the revival. He said, but get ready. He said it was in the middle of the Brownsville revival that he ended up in the hospital. They didn't know if he was gonna live. He was involved in a situation in the community that he didn't know that he could survive. And all of these things happened. He said, Don, you need to be prepared. Those things are gonna happen.

Going Blind in the Pulpit on New Year's Eve

Dr. Don Allen:And about this week last year, I was told by my doctors, you need to go ahead and plan your funeral. You need to get ahead of all of that. You have a very limited amount of time left. And what had happened was, on New Year's Eve that year, I was preaching and I'd already had several surgeries and things were going on. But while I was preaching the gospel, I went blind in the pulpit. Jesus was able to finish. People's lives were changed. They helped me off the stage. We didn't share that with anyone. I just kept on preaching. I just leaned into the presence of the Holy Spirit. And within a few hours I couldn't speak, couldn't write, couldn't see very clearly at all. And it was just a downward spiral from there.
Dr. Don Allen:Health wise, you know, you can take a step back when something like that happens, but instead I just decided we'd go out and win more people to Jesus. And in about three, three and a half months, we won 700 more people to Christ. Amazing. And apparently the enemy didn't like that because then another full attack came. And that attack not only — I was physically dying — it just began to attack and destroy and sever relationships and connections and all of these things that were so valuable to me. And it just really came down to a core moment in May.
Dr. Don Allen:And in May they told me, look, you needed a transplant to survive. But you're no longer a candidate for a transplant. You just need to go home. You need to get comfortable, and it's gonna be over. Now listen — that's what they told me. And I believe there's some people watching today that the enemy has spoken through people who had good intentions, but he's attacking you. He has assaulted your health, he's assaulted your mental strength. You're under an amazing amount of anxiety. You can't get well physically — and I'm talking to some pastors — you can't get your strength physically because of all the pressure you're under. Talking to people that are living in this real world that we are living in. And what happens then is you begin to give up.

Doctors Say Go Home and Plan Your Funeral

Dr. Don Allen:Well, when they told me that I was just to go home and it was over, it was probably the greatest thing I'd ever heard at that moment, because I was constantly trying to make sure I did what my family wanted me to do — to try to fight, to keep on moving. And they said, you just go home and it's over. And I made this simple statement. I said, well, I'm going to go preaching then. And they said, well, you can't go preaching. And I'm just who I am. I said, well, what's it gonna do? Kill me? I mean, they just told me to go home and die.
Dr. Don Allen:So I began to preach this passionate message of the restoration power of Jesus Christ. God began to do things. I ministered at the revival, which I hadn't been able to really for quite a little while because of the sickness. God began to heal people, deliver people. We received messages from across the world of lives that were changed and people were — churches were literally watching, people coming together in churches to participate in our revival services. And the miracles just started manifesting as I talked about what God can do.
Dr. Don Allen:And one of the things — and this is what I want people to catch today, Philip — is I had to literally start looking down at my body. 'Cause they told me that this organ was completely dead. There was no hope. And I started looking at that place in my body and saying, you shall live and not die. And you will proclaim the word of the Lord in the land of the living. Hallelujah. And somebody needs to grab hold of that today. You need to grab hold of — I can feel the fact that you will live and you will not die. And you need to begin to speak it over your life.

Declaring Psalm 118:17 Over His Body

Dr. Don Allen:And as I began to speak that over my life, I got back to work. I got back to serving God the way that he called me to. And by July, they said, we don't know why you're stronger, but we're gonna go in. And they did a surgery. And that surgery wasn't supposed to save me. It was supposed to just enable me to possibly be saved. I began to improve and improve and improve. And by November 8th of last year, I went in, they looked at me and said, you are finally strong enough for this surgery to occur. You can have your transplant.
Dr. Don Allen:And my wife — before I can say a word, she starts saying, he wants to know if he can defer. She was afraid I'd just straight out tell them I didn't want the transplant. Then she, for about five minutes, she and the doctors conversed and I knew they were talking to me without talking to me. Finally, I was like, hey, do you mind — since this is my body and I'm here — can I have a statement here? And so this is what I said. I said, if you can show me the numbers that say I need to have this transplant — they said, you'll probably have it as early as tomorrow or the next day, because we have been preparing for this. And I said, if you can show me where I need it, I will not argue. I will not complain.
Dr. Don Allen:The doctor looked at me and he said, now, Pastor, I know you're a man of faith. Listen to me — he's a great man. But when anybody looks at you and tries to downplay your faith, that's when your faith should arise. And he said, I know you're a man of faith, but can you please — and I'm gonna wrap this up real fast, but somebody needs to get this — can you please just check? And he pulled out his phone. He jumped back from his phone. Literally, it was like this. He looked at his phone and went — he said, I have never in my life seen this in my medical career. He said, your bad numbers are in half. Your good numbers are double. You're still dealing with sickness, but you don't need a transplant. I'll see you in six months.

Miraculous Medical Reversal Confirmed

Dr. Don Allen:Somebody needs to get ready. I feel for a new word and new hope. Philip, thank you for letting me share that, because I believe somebody needs to grab hold of that.
Philip:As you are talking just now, I can feel faith, Don. I can feel faith. Someone is watching this right now and the devil has judged them and said to them, you're done, you're finished, it's all over. Pastor, I'm telling you now, thus says the Lord, you will live and not die. And God has given you this experience to have more empathy for those that are going through the trouble themselves. Nothing can work empathy in your life more than you struggling through something and winning.
Philip:We've got a couple minutes left. Don, can you pray for us? Can you pray over people watching right now, that hope and faith would arise inside them? If God can do it for you, he can do it for anyone watching us today.
Dr. Don Allen:That's right. And I do wanna pray for them, and I also want to encourage them as we begin to pray — stop looking and planning your demise. Just stop thinking about your exit. Start thinking about your assignment from on high and see what God can do. Amen. Father, I thank you for this moment in time. I thank you for the opportunity to be with my friend, but more than anything, I know that you're connecting us right now to people with real needs. God, I'm asking you — I'm going to specifically ask you to mark this time right now, while they're watching this, as the time things begin to change in their body.

Prayer for Viewers Facing Impossible Odds

Dr. Don Allen:God, I'm asking you for testimonies to arise. And that Daily Faith will be contacted and say, I believe the word of the Lord, and I'm going to stop planning my demise, and I'm gonna be busy in the assignment God has given me in this generation. In the mighty name of Jesus, by the stripes of Christ, we are healed. Amen. Hallelujah.
Philip:Don, I mean this. I believe that this is your moment. And I don't say this easily. I'm an old Scotsman and people seem to hear the Lord speak. I believe that God has spoken to you through this program today. And you need to stand up and say, I'm not over. It's not done. I'm just beginning. And you can get more teaching from this mighty man of God. You really need to get ahold of some of his stuff. It's really simple: DonAllen.org. So simple — DonAllen.org. Contact him. He's got teaching materials, he's got books, he's got all kinds of stuff available for you.
Philip:That Church at War Hill in Dawsonville, Georgia — you need to make that a destination stop for you. The praise and worship is off the chain. And as you can tell, my friend can preach the word and break the powers of darkness. So go and see him. Thank you so much, Don. Thank you for being with us today. I appreciate you more than you'll ever know. And we are gonna make a date. I'm coming back to see you. We're gonna have — what was that time we met that one time and had a hamburger? Dahlonega, Georgia. Some of the best hamburgers in the nation. Thank you for watching Daily Faith today. We love you.
Philip:Remember, God is on your side. And if God be for you, who can be against you? We'll see you again. Bye-bye.
For over 25 years, the Cameron family has been changing the lives of orphans in Romania and Moldova — from providing running water, flushing toilets, and clean wells to coal for heat, new windows, as well as food and clothing. They champion the physical needs of the orphans in these broken and desolate countries. Many of Moldova's orphans are saved from the horrors of trafficking through homes founded by the Camerons. And in the process, orphans become daughters and sons. They come to know their heavenly Father and are forever changed by the love of Jesus.
God helped the Camerons lift these amazing young men and women out of darkness, now no longer orphans. They want to return and invade that very same darkness with the light of Jesus Christ. The Orphan's Hands equips these daughters and sons to become missionaries. Your monthly gift of $31 will allow us to rescue and take in more girls and boys, saving them from the hell of human trafficking. Your monthly partnership will allow us to care for those in the Orphan's Hands homes in Moldova and Ukraine. If you want to join Philip and Chrissy in taking care of these precious young people, please contact us today by calling 833-Daily Faith. You can also give by going online to www.DailyFaith.tv or by writing to PO Box 25, Clinton, Tennessee 37716. So many lives depend on what we do. Thank you for loving the lost.

Common questions

What health crisis did Dr. Don Allen go through, and how serious was it?

Dr. Don Allen's doctors told him he had a very limited amount of time left to live and that he should go home and plan his funeral. He had gone blind while preaching on New Year's Eve, lost his ability to speak and write, and was eventually told he was no longer a candidate for the transplant he needed to survive — essentially that it was over.

How did Dr. Don Allen respond when doctors told him to go home and prepare to die?

He decided to keep preaching. When doctors said he couldn't go out and preach, his response was, 'What's it gonna do — kill me?' He leaned into ministry, and in roughly three to three and a half months he and his team led 700 more people to Christ. He also began speaking directly over his own body, declaring, 'You shall live and not die.'

What happened when Dr. Don Allen finally went back in for his transplant evaluation?

When doctors checked his numbers on November 8th of that year, the doctor was visibly shocked — he said he had never seen anything like it in his medical career. Dr. Allen's bad numbers had been cut in half and his good numbers had doubled. The doctor told him he no longer needed the transplant and sent him home with a follow-up in six months.

What advice does Dr. Don Allen give to people who feel like their situation is hopeless?

He urges people to stop planning their demise and stop thinking about their exit. Instead, he says to focus on the assignment God has given you and to speak life over your own body — declaring out loud, 'I will live and not die.' He believes the enemy uses discouragement and even well-meaning people to make you give up, and that faith has to arise in those moments.

What is the Church at War Hill and how big has it grown?

The Church at War Hill is Dr. Don Allen's church based in North Georgia, and it has grown to six campuses stretching from Dawsonville, Georgia all the way down into North Florida. At the central campus alone, over a thousand people are saved every year. The ministry also includes a radio station — Victory 91.5 — that reaches 218 countries and territories, a Bible college, and a global missions verification organization.
