Character is built when no one is looking!
Using the story of young David, this devotional teaches that faithfulness in small, unseen responsibilities is what builds true character. Just as David cared for his sheep before facing Goliath, handling private duties well prepares us for greater challenges ahead.

He was a boy. He'd been anointed king by Samuel. And his dad was sending him down to give some cheese and flour to his brothers and the captain of their company. The Bible says that his dad says, run. And if you read the story, all through the story, David ran. David ran, got on the chariot, ran at the battle. I mean, he didn't realize it, but he was on his way to becoming a king. When he spoke to Eliab about this uncircumcised Philistine, the first thing Eliab said was, who have you left the sheep with? And the Bible tells us before this that he left the sheep with the keeper of the sheep. He showed character before anyone else knew him. And he answered back and said, I've taken care of that. You'll never kill a Goliath until you take care of your sheep. And if you do, it'll change your life.
