Are you holding His hand or is He holding yours?
Philip Cameron shares how asking God each morning for a song anchors his spirit through the day, drawing on the classic hymn "In Times Like These." He reflects that just as a parent grips a child's hand for safety, God is the one holding onto us — not the other way around.

For years now, I've asked the Lord every morning, part of my devotional time before the Lord, every morning I'll say, put a song in my heart, something that just hums inside my spirit, that focuses me during the day, a respite to go in the middle of some stuff that goes along. And he's so faithful to do that. And this morning, the song he put in my spirit was an old hymn. In times like these, we need a savior. In times like these, we need an anchor. Be very sure. Be very sure. Your anchor holds and grips this solid rock. Knowing who you are and where you are destined to be in God gives confidence beyond your ability. I know that I'm not holding his hand. He's holding mine. Whenever I would go out with my kids when they were younger, sure they held my hand, but the truth of the matter was that I was holding their hand. I was holding their hand from running away in the traffic. I was holding their hand from falling off something. So when you grasp the fact that the rock that you're standing on, you're not holding on to it, it's holding on to you. He's holding on to you. So in your day-to-day life, ask God to give you a song like I do. Ask him to sing an old hymn. I will laugh sometimes that songs that I don't think anyone else in the world remembers except me, and I'll sing it to myself, and I'll think, Philip, you are getting old. But the truth is, I'm holding on to him, but more importantly, he's holding on to me. And if you do it, it'll change your world. Thank you.
