No oil creates major problems!
Using a vivid story of a brand-new car ruined by a missing oil cap, this devotional draws a clear parallel to the Holy Spirit's daily role in a believer's life. Just as oil keeps an engine running smoothly, the Spirit keeps us from overheating and moving forward.

Many years ago we became aware of the crisis of the earthquake in Turkey. This is 25 years ago, 30 years ago. And my dad asked me if I could go and see the situation. So we flew into the airport, picked up this brand new car and drove. And I drove two hours away and the engine froze on a brand new car. We were the first people to drive the car. And we rolled to the side and the steam was coming out. I thought, oh my goodness. And we put up the hood of the bonnet as we say. And what had happened was when they filled the oil in the car, they hadn't put the oil cap back on. And all underneath the car was covered in oil. Underneath the hood was covered in oil. And we'd run the engine dry and we had to get a tow truck and pull us all the way back to the airport and get another car. A brand new car with no oil won't go far. You need the oil of the Holy Ghost in your life every day. It smooths stuff out. It allows you to go places. It keeps things from getting overheated. And it took us two days to recover from that one moment because of the time to go back and we missed the fairies and all that kind of stuff. So what I'm telling you is this. Keep the oil in your engine and keep a lid on it. If you do, it will change your life.
