Who is the Lord to You? What does He mean to you?

Our first home in America was a mobile home. A repossessed mobile home. And we moved in to this place. It was the most amazing moments of my life. Oh, it was great. We were finally at a place we could stop traveling and take a week off without being broken hotels. And I was speaking one Christmas at PTL, the great television program with Jim Baker. And when we got back to Montgomery, as we drove into the mobile home park and where our mobile home was, there was only a charred hull left. Someone had burglarized the place and set it on fire. Well, that wee world that we had created, it was gone. All of the old dresses that Chrissy had bought for Melody, our daughter, from Walmart and Kmart on sale. And all the wee things, all the photographs, everything was gone. And my wife and I stood and she wept and was just devastated in the middle of this mobile home. And I'd been praying and the Lord had given me a thought on the 23rd Psalm, The Lord is my shepherd. When David wrote, The Lord is my shepherd, what he did was he identified the characteristic of God, that God was a shepherd and he released what shepherds are in his life. I shall not want. He makes me lie down on the green pass and restores my soul. He prepares a table for me in the present. By identifying God as the shepherd, he allowed God to manifest the nature of the shepherd in his life. So I said to Chrissy, look, tell God what you want him to do for us. Tell him what you want him to be. I said, what do you want God to give us to replace this mobile home? And through her tears, she says, I would like a four-bedroom house so folk can come from Scotland and visit us. I said, we're going to believe God for that. She said, I want a laundry room with a washer and dryer. I said, we'll believe God for that. Within two weeks of that moment in the mobile home, churches heard about the situation. Jim Baker heard about the situation. We had enough money to put a down payment on a house, a four-bedroom house. Someone gave us a brand new set of washers and dryers and sofas. And within two weeks of the devil thinking he had us destroyed and broken our spirit, we were sitting in a beautiful home. It was way beyond our ability to manage in our own power. What do you want God to be in your life? A healer, a provider, a restorer. I encourage you today. Tell him what you want him to be. And if you do, it will change your life.
